Pee Dee River Drowning

Early this afternoon a man was pulled from the Pee Dee River downstream from Laney Landing.
Lorne Carlson, in his early 60s, was transported to McLeod Health Cheraw but couldn’t be revived.
Chesterfield Coroner Kip Kiser has ordered an autopsy, and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources is handling the investigation since the event occurred on the river.
The Cheraw Police Department, Cheraw Fire Department, Cheraw Rescue Squad and the Chesterfield County Sheriff responded.
