McBee MEC orders new election
Following a nearly three-hour public hearing in which the McBee Municipal Election Commission heard from sworn witnesses and attorneys for the plaintiffs and the defendants, the MEC ordered a new town council election for the contested mayoral and two council seats. The ruling essentially voids the results of the Sept. 1 election.
The date of the new election is to be determined. In the meantime, the current council of Mayor John Campolong, in addition to Glenn Odom, Charlie Sutton, Bea Bolton and Kemp McLeod will remain seated.
