Shots fired during break-in
The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in locating 23-year-old Austin Lee Drake from Monroe, North Carolina, in reference to a home break-in.
A report from the CCSO states on Dec. 2, deputies responded to a burglary in progress with shots being fired at a residence on Highway 207 North near the state line in Chesterfield County. When deputies arrived on scene, they found a resident at the home and the back door of his residence broken into and shot.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned Drake came to the residence and attempted to break into the rear door. The resident retrieved his firearm, and as Drake was entering the residence, the resident shot two rounds at Drake.
Drake fled the scene in a green in color older model F-150 Ford pickup truck with yellow stickers on the back glass. Drake may have been hit as a result of the resident’s firing rounds at Drake. Drake left the scene and headed north toward North Carolina.
Anyone who has information on Drake’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 623-2101 or local law enforcement.
Sheriff James Dixon thanks Pageland Police Department for assisting in this incident. Sheriff Dixon also reminds everyone to be vigilant to their surroundings and their neighbors’ residences. All suspicious activity should be reported to local law enforcement.
More information will be posted to Breaking News as details are made available.
