Minnie M. Chavis

BENNETTSVILLE – Minnie M. Chavis, 69, died Monday, February 1, 2021.  Born in Bennettsville, SC she was the daughter of Franklin and Florrie Neta Jackson Thomas.

She was a seamstress with B.C. Moores Company and enjoyed reading, sewing, and puzzle games. Above all Minnie was a loving mama and grandma, who loved spending time with her family.

Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Simon Thomas, Enos Thomas, and Timmy Thomas.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Alexander Chavis; daughters, Amanda Steen and Samantha Clark (George Everette Bailey) both of Bennettsville, SC; sisters, Dorothy Mabe of Bennettsville, SC, Nita Wright of Bennettsville, SC, Nancie Chewning of Cheraw, SC and Libbie Webb of Bennettsville, SC; grandchildren, Miranda Steen (Lorina) of Bennettsville, SC, Michelle Wilson (Brandon) of Society Hill, SC, Michael Chavis (Angie) of Jefferson, SC, Noah Cooper Clark of Bennettsville, SC and Julia Deaton of Bennettsville, SC; and great-grandchildren, Bradley Steen of Society Hill, SC, Kaleb Chavis of Chesterfield, SC and Gabriel Chavis of Chesterfield, SC.

A graveside funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bennettsville, SC.

The family will receive friends following the service at the Cemetery and at other times at the home.

Donna Lynn Hunt Dixon

PATRICK – Mrs. Donna Lynn Hunt Dixon, age 54, entered into rest on Sunday, January 31, 2021. Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Lower Macedonia Memorial Gardens by Pastor Donnie Driggers. The family received friends from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dixon was born October 1, 1966, in Anson County, North Carolina, a daughter of John William (Johnny) and Hazel Diane Purvis Hunt. Donna was a homemaker, and her grandchildren were her world. She loved to travel to the beach with her family.

Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her son, William Daniel Dixon.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, William “David” Dixon, of the home; children, Amanda Lynn (Shane) Atkinson of Patrick, SC, Michelle Danielle (Joshua) Dorsey of Patrick, SC; parents, Johnny and Dianne Hunt of Patrick, SC; 6 grandchildren, Will Anderson, Alexis Dorsey, Lilly McLain, Chase Dorsey, Konnor Atkinson, Karson Atkinson; and her brother, Matt Hunt, of Chesterfield, SC.

Elease Jackson

CHARLOTTE, NC- Elease Jackson, 83, died on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. A graveside service was held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 1PM from the Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw, SC. She was born November 6, 1937 in Kershaw, SC to the late Gertrude Sowell Jackson and Leonard Jackson, Sr.

Survivors: children, Monica Jackson, Charlotte, NC, Dianne Jackson, Charlotte, NC, Joan Hairston-Jackson, Jacksonville, FL and Raymond Jackson (Imogen Jackson), Charlotte, NC; siblings, Doris Kirkland (Tom Kirkland), Charlotte, NC, Louise Gray, Charlotte, NC, Marian Ratliff, Charlotte, NC, Joan Jackson, Charlotte, NC and Ronald Jackson, Manhattan, NY; 37 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Lash Smith

CHESTERFIELD – Lash Smith, 64, died on Monday, February 1, 2021. Funeral service was held Sunday, February 7, 2021 at 2PM from the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, Chesterfield, SC. Burial followed in the church cemetery. He was born April 7, 1956 in Chesterfield, SC to the late Sarah Louise Smith Cannon and Lloyd David Smith. Survivors: daughter, Lashley Nicole Smith, Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Da’Shon Rorie, Cameron Butler, Jordan Butler, and Mi’Kerion Smith, Chesterfield, SC; brother, James C. Smith, Chesterfield, SC; step sisters, Jamesena Cannon and Karen (Sim) McRae, Chesterfield, SC, Patricia (John) Marshall, Morven, NC, Gloria Brown, Columbia, SC and Genneatha Cannon, Cheraw, SC; step brothers, Vaughn Cannon and Eddie (Ann) Cannon, Wadesboro, NC. Stephen McCoy ‘Strawberry’ Smith

Mr. Stephen McCoy “Strawberry” Smith, 59, of Patrick, passed away Sunday morning, January 31st, 2021, while at home with his family.

The family held a memorial service at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon, February 6th, 2021, at the home of his sister, Phyllis Moose. The family requests that anyone in attendance, please wear a mask.
A native and life-long resident of Chesterfield County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Grady and LouElla Smith.  He was a painter for 30+ years, enjoyed fishing, and loved the Redskins.
He is survived by his siblings: Phyllis (Kelly) Moose, Linda Parker, and Allen Smith all of Patrick; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Cheri Childress; and his dog, Tippy.
Strawberry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rillie Smith; and a brother, Travis Smith.

Allen Wayne White

WALLACE – Allen Wayne White, 63, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 4, 2021. Born in Bennettsville, SC he was a son of the late Nathan Everette and Lillian Avis Clark White. He was a member of Wallace Baptist Church, Wallace, SC. (It was because of the loving care and devotion of his “Ma” that Wayne was able to live his Best life.)

Surviving is his brother, Danny (Marian) White of Rockingham, NC, a sister, Diane (Tom) Cummings of Wallace, SC, nieces and nephews, Robyn Cummings, Angie Cummings, Tommy (Christie) Cummings, Erin (Eric Mace) White, Kelly (Jessica) White, great nieces and nephews, Mackenzie, Cheyenne, Caitlyn, Keith, Chaz, Alex, Abbie, Ethan, and Grayson. Also, special caregivers, Julian McKinnon and Jerry McCall (the family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to these caregivers.)

A Celebration of Life was held 3:00 PM, Monday, February 8, 2021 at Wallace Baptist Church, Wallace, SC (the service will be outside, in front of the church) with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
