Elma ‘Bib’ M. Cassidy
Mrs. Elma “Bib” M. Cassidy, 84, died Thursday, February 18, 2021 at her home. Born, March 14, 1936 in Chesterfield County, SC she was a daughter of the late Theodore Lucas Melton, Sr and the late Lillie Jane Boatwright Melton. “Bib” was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Cheraw.
Along with her parents, listed above, Mrs. Cassidy was preceded in death by her brothers, May Harvey Melton, Willie Thurman Melton, Rudolph Melton, T.L. Melton, Jr. and Graylon Melton; and sisters, Annie Lee M. Stafford and Lillie Viola Melton.
Mrs. Cassidy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 65 years, W.M. Cassidy, Sr. of the home; her son, Wilson Mack Cassidy, Jr. (Kay B) of Florence, SC; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Cassidy of Salt Lake City, UT and Brooke Cassidy of Florence, SC.
A graveside service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.

Shirley Lee Coker Haire
CHERAW – Shirley Lee Coker Haire, 55, died on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Born, December 6, 1965, in Cheraw, SC she was a daughter of the late Earl Monroe and Mary Lee Howard Coker.
Shirley was a member of Cheraw Family Worship Center and was a devout Christian who believed in and cherished her God. She was a member of several Feeding Tube Awareness groups. Shirley had been living with a feeding tube since her brain stem stroke in 2014. She beat all odds for seven years. The dearest accomplishment in her life was her daughter Courtney, who was the only reason she fought for her life so hard. She said that the only reason she was still living was to see her daughter graduate from college.
Shirley enjoyed bodybuilding at an early age and competed in several competitions. She was always proud of her body and continued to take care of herself after her stroke. Shirley was a cosmetologist for 30+ years, working many of those years at Hairstyles by Jan, and had many loyal customers. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of animals. Her passion was reading and transcribing her Bible daily.
She is survived by her daughter, Courtney Leigh Haire of Cheraw, SC; a brother, James “Jim” Coker (Emily) of Cheraw, SC; a sister Dena Ann Coker of Franklin, NC; nephew, Timmy Clinkscales (Jessi), special Aunt, Sparkle Shoemake, lots of loving cousins and special friends and her grand fur baby Cooper “Coop”.
A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the Howard Family Cemetery in the Cash Community.

Bobby Jordan
PATRICK – Mr. Bobby Jordan, age 72, entered into rest on Friday, February 19, 2021. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 22, 2021 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Brent Taylor with burial following in the Jordan Family Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Jordan was born May 23, 1948 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Willis and Aline Boan Jordan. He was a retired employee with the SC Department of Transportation and a former employee of Furr Grading & Paving. A true outdoorsman, Bobby could either be found in his barn working on old tractors or out tending to his garden. He will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jordan was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vanessa Bowie Jordan; son, Bobby Ellis Jordan; brother, Luther Jordan, and sister, Shelby J. Ussery.
Survivors include his sons, James (Donna) Jordan of Chesterfield, SC, and Michael Jordan of Patrick, SC; grandchildren, Cody (Hannah) Jordan, Kelsey (Heath) Gulledge, Hannah Jordan, Michael Joplin, and Adian Jordan; brother, Howard (Pam) Jordan of Columbia, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

William Bill Herbert Liles
CHESTERFIELD – Mr. William “Bill” Herbert Liles, age 89, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. A private family graveside service will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Phil Wyatt and Rev. Jackie Hinson.
Friends could stop by Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home on Sunday, February 21, 2021 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM to view and pay their respects. A Celebration of Life service for family and friends will be announced in the coming months.
Mr. Liles was born September 23, 1931 in Lilesville, NC a son of the late Eli and Sally Ussery Liles. He was a graduate of Lilesville High School and a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Liles was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and a former member of Candlewyck Baptist Church of Charlotte where he formerly served as Deacon. Bill was the owner and State Farm agent of the Liles Insurance Agency with 37 years of service. A man who never met a stranger, Bill was quick to strike up a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed boating and spending time at his home on Lake Wylie, and going out to dinner with friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Liles was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Rollins Liles; brother, James D. Liles; and infant brother, Sanford Liles.
Survivors include his son, Tim Liles and long-time companion, Kim Brueckner of Charlotte, NC; caregiver, Barbara Smith of Chesterfield, SC; brothers-in-law, Robert Carrison (Clara) Rollins of Cheraw, SC, and Ralph (Kaye) Rollins of Chesterfield, SC; sisters-in-law, Christine (Ted) Rogers of LaPlata, MD, and Eunice (Doug) Ruff of Columbia, SC; and his beloved K-9 companion, “Blackie.”
Bill’s family is grateful to Dr. Gina Morrill and the entire staff of Atrium Health – Union for the extraordinary care provided to Mr. Liles.

Marshall ‘PaPa’ King Oliver
JEFFERSON – Mr. Marshall “PaPa” King Oliver, 76, of Jefferson, SC went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 12, 2021 in Monroe, NC. Mr. Marshall King Oliver was born on August 8, 1944 in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Reece Evans Oliver and Katherine Kirkley Oliver. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Oliver, Claude “Buddy” Oliver, Bobby Oliver, Billy Oliver and sisters, Sarah Deese and Thelma “Tenny” Graves. He was a member of Fork Creek United Methodist Church. Marshall acquired his General Contractor’s License and built his own business. He enjoyed working with the crews until he retired in 2010. He took pride in working outside in his yard. Marshall enjoyed spending time and heading up beach trips with all his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed going on his Friday “Papa Day” trips to In & Out Mini Mart with the grandchildren for 35 years. Mr. Oliver is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Brenda Boatwright Oliver of Jefferson, SC, daughters, Pam Jackson (Mike) of Conway, SC and Rhonda Rivers (Andy) of Pageland, SC; brother, Jerry Oliver (Diane) of Jefferson, SC; sisters, Joyce Helms (Johnny) of Jefferson, SC and Patsy Elzey (Horace) of Jefferson, SC; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred Pigge Plyler
PAGELAND – Mrs. Mildred Pigge Plyler, 88, of Pageland, SC passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in Monroe, NC. Mrs. Mildred Plyler was born on August 15, 1932 in Cheraw, SC to the late James Robert Pigge Sr. and Annie Driggers Pigge. She is preceded in death by her husband, George William Plyler; brothers, Theodore Pigge and James Leo Pigge; sister, Sylvia Garris; and grandchildren, Sherry Denise Plyler, and Baby Boy Plyler. Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, one of her biggest enjoyments was keeping the family close and supportive of one another. She always looked forward to being involved with the community and church. She was always surrounded by her close friends and was committed to sending cards throughout the community to people. Mildred was a Matron of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Plyler was the owner of Plyler’s Food Shop in Pageland, SC for over thirty years and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Marshville, NC. She loved going shopping and working jigsaw puzzles with friends. Mildred loved her flowers and to watch birds, especially Cardinals. Mrs. Plyler is survived by her sons, Jerry Wayne Plyler (Wanda), Eric Plyler (Veronica), Michael Lynn Plyler all of Pageland, SC; brother, James R. Pigge Jr. (Libby) of Cheraw; sisters, Margaret Byrd of Atmore, AL and Sybil Steele (Artis) of Pensacola FL; grandchildren, Andrea Atwell (Ricky), Jason Lynn Plyler, Danita Hinson (Chad Medlin), Heather Godwin (Chancey), Jerica Usher (Trent), Adam Gregory Plyler, Jantzen Brianne Plyler, Jodi Pate (Brandon) and great grandchildren, Kacie Plyler, Kara Hinson, Alexia Atwell, Brooke Atwell, Kaitlyn Hinson, Makayla Medlin, Bella Godwin, Cooper Atwell, Major Usher, Captain Usher, Ace Godwin, Baze Usher, and Saylor Pate. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service was held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Family Life Center with Pastor Mel Winstead officiating. Burial was private. CHERAW – Reverend Rosa Lee Pulliam, 99, died on Monday, February 15, 2021. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 1PM from the Pee Dee Union Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the Montrose Cemetery, Cheraw, SC. She was born August 11, 1921 in Marlboro County, SC to the late Benjamin Franklin Johnson, Sr. and Hattie Lucas Johnson. Survivors: daughters, Doris Porter, Thelma (Wallace) Funderburk and Louester Hooks; son, Clifton E. Short; special daughters, Grayce D. Smith, Mary R. Jackson, Daisy Eckels, Barbara E. Smith, and Margaret Ford; grandchildren, Cynthia (Jerome) Johnson, Felicia Hooks, Thomas V. Kitt, Maurice Short, Candra Short, Tamika Short, Chrishonda (Dominique) Pearson, Willie (Ingrid) Hooks Jr., Jonette Dixon, Reginald Jackson, and Iscaria (Eddie) Dows; thirteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Arie Williams. Dorothy ‘Jean’ Sikes
RUBY – Miss Dorothy “Jean” Sikes, age 51, entered into rest on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Center Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Rodney Nicholson and Brent Taylor with burial following in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM Sunday prior to the service at the church.
Miss Sikes was born January 18, 1970 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late William Franklin “Hamp” and Barbara Jean Melton Sikes. She was a graduate of Central High School and a faithful member of Center Grove Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and very active in Vacation Bible School. Jean was an employee of Sun Recycling and a former employee of Pageland Screen Printers. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and spending time with her family. A lady known for her huge heart and loving personality, Jean will also be fondly remembered for her extreme thoughtfulness and her ability to remember EVERYONE’s birthday with a call, text, or card. Of all things that brought her happiness, Jean’s world revolved around being “Mom” to her daughter, Gracie, her pride and joy!
In addition to her parents, Miss Sikes was also preceded in death by sisters-in-law, Nancy Irene Johnson, and Elizabeth “Dete” Hodge Roscoe; and brothers-in-law, Tim Brock, Ronnie Roscoe, Eugene Roscoe, and Floyd Hodge.
Survivors include her daughter, Madison Grace “Gracie” Roscoe; loving companion of 17 years and fiancé, Donald Roscoe; mother-in-law, Loretta Roscoe; brothers-in-law, James Harrison (Wanda) Rosoce, Roger “Rock” Roscoe, Johnny (Sheila) Roscoe, and Walter Roscoe; sisters-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” (James) Rivers, Carolyn Roscoe, Rachel Brock, Sarah (Terry) Johnson, Hazel (Jeff) Bell, and Sandra (Scott) Edwards; numerous cousins including Connie Howard, Annette Parrott, and Jackie Burnish; her “Adopted Mom,” Lucy Hancock Hannah; and numerous friends including her closest, Nancy O. Plyler, and Lisa T. Smith.
