Deborah ‘Debbie’ Butler

CHERAW – Deborah “Debbie” Workman Butler, was called home to the Lord on March 13th, 2021. A longtime member of Westside Baptist Church, Debbie worked for many years and retired as a Dental Assistant. Full of energy and a love for food and cooking, Debbie owned a successful catering company called Palmetto Cooks, briefly owning a restaurant in Downtown Cheraw called the Palmetto Room. Since retiring (and before) Debbie loved to travel whether with family or friends, near or far – from the mountains and coasts of the Carolinas to the old cities of Europe and the Islands of Greece. She loved her family dearly, taking an active role with her children’s education and activities. She was filled with joy, love and pride with the birth of her grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye.

She is survived by her husband of forty-four years (who has been the love of her life for more than fifty years), Randy Carter Butler of Cheraw, Daughter – Ali Butler Boatright of Bennettsville, son Matthew Carter Butler of Cheraw, grandchildren Robbie, Wesley and Brenlee Boatwright of Cheraw; sisters-in-law Nancy (Mickey†) Workman, Cheryl (Larry†) Heustess, and Teri (Jimmie) Pruitt, as well as Nephews Chad (Pamela) Workman of Cheraw, Mitch (Rosalie) Workman of Summerville, Nieces Kelli (Cam) Beck of Cheraw, Jen Tucker of Wilmington, NC, Abbi (Billy) Gibbs of Florence, maternal cousins numerous, other family and many, many friends.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Jimmie and Ruth Workman of Cheraw, beloved brother Mickey Workman, Parent-in-laws RD & Tillie Butler, and many other loved Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Westside Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC.  A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

David Ray Campbell Sr.

CHESTERFIELD – Mr. David Ray Campbell, Sr., 57, died on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Born, October 27, 1963 in Chesterfield, SC he was a son of the late Thomas Curtis and Juanita Mahalia Winburn Campbell. David worked for over 30 years with Schaeffler Manufacturing and coached with the town of Cheraw recreation league for several years.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, especially on the river.

Along with his parents, listed above, David was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Campbell.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his girlfriend, Lois Aeby; his sons; David Campbell, Jr. (Samantha) of Florence, SC, Brian Campbell (Leigh) of Hartsville, SC, and Joe Campbell (Tara) of Cheraw, SC; his grandchildren, Annsley Campbell, Lucas Campbell, Levi Campbell, Cash Campbell, Aubrey Campbell, Gray Campbell and Lex Campbell; a niece, Emily Campbell of Clemson, SC; a nephew, Dylan Campbell of Cameron, NC; and his Bulldog, Thatcher.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Kiser Funeral Home.  A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Donald E. Caudle Sr.

RAEFORD, N.C., formerly of Jefferson, SC – Donald E. Caudle Sr., EdS, 53, died on Monday March 1, 2021. Graveside services were held on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 2PM from the Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC.  He was born on April 11, 1967 in Pageland, SC to Patricia T. Caudle and the late Leroy Bracy, Sr. Survivors: wife, Stacey L. Caudle; daughters, LeNetra D. Caudle (Terrence), Greensboro, NC and Nichelle M. Caudle, Lake City, FL; son, Donald E. Bradley ‘Brad’ Wayne Deatherage

CHESTERFIELD – Mr. Bradley “Brad” Wayne Deatherage, age 48, entered into rest on Friday, March 5, 2021. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Mr. Deatherage was born March 10, 1972 in Texas a son of Alvin Deatherage and the late Sylvia Strickland Deatherage. Formerly employed at Tucker Lumber in Pageland, Brad enjoyed online gaming and chatting with his online gaming family. He was an animal lover and enjoyed collecting comic books, collectibles, and loved to read. Cats were his favorite animal.

In addition to his mother, Brad was preceded in death by numerous cousins.

Survivors include his father, Alvin (Brenda) Deatherage of Wadesboro, NC; brother, Chris Deatherage of Wadesboro, NC; aunt, Diane Shackelford of Peachland, NC, and his online gaming family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Humane Society of one’s choice.

Carrie Lee Miller Kennedy

JEFFERSON – Carrie Lee Miller Kennedy, 90, died on Thursday, March 11, 2021.  Graveside services were held on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 1PM from the Mt. Elon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC. She was born April 20, 1930 to the late Pearl and Harmon Miller in Chesterfield County, SC. Survivors: daughters, Narvie (Arthur) Scott, Denver, CO, Delbra (AZ) Williams, Rock Hill, SC and Je-Nata Newman, Jefferson, SC; sons, Frank (Dianne) Kennedy, Lucious (Norma) Kennedy and John (Chase) Kennedy of Jefferson, SC, Andrew Kennedy, Pageland, SC and Silas (Shirley) Kennedy, Williamsburg, VA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Kennedy, Jefferson, SC; a host of sisters, brothers, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clyde C. Kimrey Jr.

WALLACE – Mr. Clyde C. Kimrey, Jr., 70, died on Saturday, March 13, 2021.  Born, January 15, 1951 in Marlboro County, SC, he was the son of the late Clyde C. Kimrey, Sr. and the late Grace White Kimrey.  Mr. Kimrey was an educator with the Marlboro County School System and was the President of the Cash Lake Hunt Club.

Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen K. Edwards and Lois Alexander.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Sandra Deese Kimrey of the home; and a sister, “Teenie” Poole of Cheraw, SC

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wallace, SC. A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service Sunday at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Linda Marshall

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Linda Marshall, 64, died on Friday, February 26, 2021.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 3:30PM from the McClain Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the church cemetery. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 2, 1956 to the late Addie Marshall and James Cashaw. Survivors: daughter, Shenequa Jackson and son, Kareem Jackson, Winston Salem, NC; siblings, Tracey (Martin) Cashaw Asemota, Brooklyn, NY, James (Carolyn) Cashaw Jr., Bronx, NY and Derek (Jessica) Cashaw, Jacksonville, FL; close cousins, Shelton (Beverly) Powe, Atlanta, GA, Earl Wesley Stots, Kyle, TX, and Olethea Scott, Charlotte, NC. Michael Lee Noel

CHERAW – Michael Lee Noel, 62, died Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Richard “Dick” Noel and Carolyn Chapman Kelley. Michael was the owner and operator of Noel’s Body Shop and had over 30 years of work experience with tool and die. He enjoyed fishing, golf, horseshoes and working on cars as well as loved to spend time with his grandkids, and dog.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Parker Noel of Cheraw, SC; daughters, Mica (Travis) Dowdy of Bennettsville, SC, and Jade (David) Johnson of Cheraw, SC; and grandchildren, Holden Dowdy, Parker Dowdy, and Sadie Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, and brothers, Doug Noel and Richard Noel.

The family received friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Kiser Funeral Home.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 13, 2021 in Welsh Neck Baptist Church Cemetery, Society Hill, SC.

Virginia J. ‘Jenny Mae’ Oakley

MIDDENDORF – Mrs. Virginia J. “Jenny Mae” Oakley, age 74, entered into rest on Monday, March 8, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens by Pastor Don Rhyne and Tami Stover. The family greeted friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. Oakley was born April 12, 1946 in Summerville, SC a daughter of the late James Henry and Mary Johnson. Jenny Mae worked for the Head Start program where she was a teacher’s assistant and bus driver for over 20 years. She loved the children she worked with. Mrs. Oakley was a southern belle type of lady who loved being at home, loved the royal family, and her trinkets. She was a member of Hebron Methodist Church in McBee. The Johnson girls were known for singing, and Jenny Mae loved to sing in the church choir. Her dad nicknamed her “Jaybird,” and her favorite color was red. Jenny Mae was a fighter who bravely battled multiple sclerosis and never complained about her illness. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Brandon, son-in-law, Wes, and daughter, Kathy, who looked just like her, loved eating her niece Barbara Gore’s cooking, whom she referred to as Martha Stewart, and her greatest love was her grandson, Brandon, whom she adored. She was known as a “double barrel Johnson” to her family. Jenny Mae loved her late husband, Robert Oakley, with all of her heart and soul.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oakley was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Oakley; brother, Rudolph Catoe, and sisters, Claudia Koon, Hazel Boyd, and Grace Hooker.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Walters, and her husband, Wes Walters, whom Jenny Mae loved like a son, of Middendorf, SC; loving grandson, Brandon Walters, of Middendorf, SC; sisters, Ida J. Powell, of Patrick, SC, Frances (Sonny) Dooley of Wilmington, NC, Henrietta McNeese of Montana; numerous nieces and nephews; and her feline baby, Bow.

During Mr. Bobby and Mrs. Jenny Mae’s battle with sickness, their nieces Barbara Gore, Dianne Byrd, and nephew, Robert “Robbie” Oakley, have been there every step of the way. They were always there to lend a hand and take care of Bobby and Jenny Mae with love and compassion. In addition, the family would like to extend a big thank you to Jenny Mae’s long-time physician, Dr. Bell, and Regency Southern Hospice for the compassionate and loving care shown to Mrs. Jenny Mae.

Mary Frances Stanley

CHESTERFIELD – Mary Frances Stanley, 77, died on Thursday, February 25, 2021.  Graveside services were held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 12PM from the Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles Doctrine, Inc. Cemetery, Chesterfield, SC.  She was born November 8, 1943 to the late Tommy and Viola Hinson Evans in Chesterfield, SC.  Survivors: daughters; Sherry (Barry) Jacobs, Chesterfield, SC, Cornelia (Min. John) Jenkins, Orangeburg SC, and Teresa (James) McManus, Chesterfield SC; grandchildren: Tawanda Stanley, Orangeburg SC, Rosalyn Stanley, Chesterfield SC, Nina Stanley, Chesterfield SC, and LaKisha Stanley of Cheraw SC; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters: Rachel Wilson and Mary Ann Merriman, Chesterfield, SC; brothers, William Evans and Thomas Lee Evans, Chesterfield SC. James Earl Williams

JEFFERSON – James Earl Williams, 72, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.  Graveside services were held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 11am from the Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC.  He was born November 28, 1948 in Washington, DC to the late Leroy Williams and Roberta C. Lockhart McMillian.  Survivors: his wife, Annie Mae Williams; daughters, Jaime E. Williams, Roswell, Georgia, Justina (Harry) Fox, Cordele, Georgia, Jeri E.
