John Elliott (Gitty) Cue

Mr. John Elliott (Gitty) Cue humbly bowed to God’s will and peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 9, 2021, at McLeod Health Cheraw, in Cheraw, South Carolina. John was born on March 7, 1957, at Cheraw Hospital in Cheraw, South Carolina.

At an early age, John accepted Christ as his personal Savior and made Goodman Creek Missionary Baptist Church his church home. John was a graduate of Cheraw High School. He was employed in textiles and was an avid outdoorsman.

John was preceded in death by his parents, mother Mrs. Pochie Mae Cue Pegues, father, Mr. Curlee Cue, stepfather, Mr. Sylvester Pegues, two brothers, Lee Charles Cue and Michael J. Pegues and a sister, Denise Pegues.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his love, Louise McQueen; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ann Cue-Tate and Mrs. JoAnn McQueen both of Cheraw, SC and Mrs. Minnie Bell White of Columbia, SC; one brother, Joseph Bernard Pegues of Cheraw, SC; one niece, Constance (Robert) Christian of McKenny, TX; three nephews, Derrick (Sandra) McQueen and Rev. Raphael Gadson both of Cheraw, SC and Jay (Jennifer) Little of Columbia, SC; five great-nieces, Danielle, Derris, Carli, Julina and Lizan; four great nephews, DyJon, Josiah, Daniel and Titan; four godchildren, Debbra Anita (Carlos) Guido, Shantay Latrelle McQueen, Briana Burroughs and Leonard Beckett III; one aunt, Mrs. Viola Bridges and a host of cousins and friends.

Fannie Lee Wallace Harper

CHERAW – Fannie Lee Wallace Harper, 89, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021. Born in Chesterfield, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Franklyn and Aurilla Katherine Wallace. She was the widow of William L. “Bill” Harper, the love of her life for close to 70 years. Mrs. Harper was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was retired from Cooper Tools (Weller). Mrs. Harper loved flowers and enjoyed working in the yard as often as she could. She could often be found crocheting a prayer shawl to be given out to those in need. She loved her family and enjoyed visits from everyone.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (John) Davis of Lowrys, SC, sons, William “Butch” (Marsha) Harper, of Florence, SC and Jim (Kristi) Harper of Chesterfield, SC, grandchildren, Brent (Misty) Harper, Bryan (Ashley) Harper, Dallas (Allison) Watson, Dalton (Mica) Harper, Ian (Aspen Simmons) Harper, Kit (Andre) Scott, Evans (Kelly) Davis, Abbey (Heeth) Harding, Brad (Natalie) Newsome and Jill Newsome, sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents listed above, brothers, J.P. Wallace, Doc Wallace, Dozier Wallace, Dick Wallace, a sister, Edith Wallace, a grandson, Lance Newsome and a great-grandson, Tag Harding.

The family received friends from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in the Fellowship Hall of Zoar United Methodist Church.

A funeral service was held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Zoar United Methodist Church.

John M. Perdue

PATRICK – John M. Perdue, 80, died Saturday, May 8, 2021. Born in Patrick, SC he was a son of the late Lillie Wilks Purdue. He was retired from James Fabrics.

Surviving are his daughters, Mary (Rob) Keith of Society Hill, SC, Kim (Steven) Purdue-Hicks of Patrick, SC, grandchildren, Ashley (Dustin) Gaskins, Heather Rogers, McKinley Hicks, Preston Hicks, Jesse Keith, great grandchildren, Steven Quick and Aiden Quick.

He was preceded in death by his mother listed above, also a grandchild, Paige Rogers, 2 brothers and 3 Sisters.

A graveside service was held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in the Patrick Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.

William Belton ‘Buck’ Polson

PATRICK – Mr. William Belton “Buck” Polson, age 69, entered into rest on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side. Funeral services were held at 4:00 PM Monday, May 10, 2021 at Patrick Presbyterian Church by Pastor Bob Sloan, Frankie Joyner, and Alvin Tolson with burial following in the Patrick Cemetery. Visitation was between the hours of 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the family’s home.

Mr. Polson was born May 11, 1951 in Patrick, SC a son of the late Belton E. and Ola Bee Polson. He was a retired employee of A.O. Smith, and following his retirement, Buck worked part-time with the Town of Patrick. He was a member of the S.C. Army National Guard and a member of Patrick Presbyterian Church. A true outdoorsman, Buck enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and working with his tractor. His favorite teams were the USC Gamecocks and the Dallas Cowboys. Of all things Buck enjoyed, spending time with his family was of most importance. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Polson was also preceded in death by a brother, Junior Walters; sister; Evelyn Walters; and grandmother, Emma Tucker.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Bonnie Gainey Polson of the home; sons, Jacob Polson, Jerry (Kayla) Lundy both of Patrick, SC, and Adam (Tamara) Lundy of Cheraw, SC; daughter, Brandy (Josh) White of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Kara Lundy, Lane Lundy, Liam Lundy, Kali Tadlock, Harleigh Tadlock, Bailey Tadlock, Tanner Lundy, Tylah Lundy, Tatum Brumley, Noah Patterson, Luke Patterson, and Harlee White; brothers, John Polson of Hartsville, SC, Jimmy (Sherry) Polson of Cheraw, SC, Scotty (Melody) Walters of Patrick, SC; sister, Mary (Alvin) Tolson of Patrick, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patricia Gail White

CHERAW – Patricia Gail White, 68, died May 6, 2021. Born in Marlboro County she was a daughter of Edmond Steen of Spartanburg, SC and the late Virginia Lee Driggers Steen. She was a member of Faith Fellowship Church, Wallace, SC

She is survived by her husband, Billy White of Cheraw, SC, a daughter, Shannon Nicole Troublefield of Raleigh, NC, grandchildren, Virginia Nicole Troublefield, Carl Robert Troublefield, David Dominic Troublefield, her father listed above, a brother, Thomas Steen of Chesterfield, VA, sisters, Donna Edwards of Spartanburg, SC, Virginia McGinty of Chesterfield, VA, and Sylvia Melton of Spartanburg, SC.

She was preceded in death by her mother listed above, also, brothers, Larry Steen, Ronnie Steen and a sister, Mary Howle.

The family received friends 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 9, 2021at Faith Fellowship Church, Wallace, SC.

A funeral service was held 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 9, 2021at Faith Fellowship Church, Wallace, SC. Burial was in the church cemetery.
