Jayceion Zymiere Clark

RUBY – Jayceion Zymiere Clark, 7 months, died Wednesday, April 21, 2021.  Graveside services were held Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 4PM from the Angelus A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC.  He was born September 11, 2020.

Bertina Denise Ford

WILMINGTON, Del. – Bertina Denise Ford, 68, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021.  Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 12PM from Bethel Cemetery, Middendorf SC. She was born May 4, 1952 to the late Katherine Harris and Alexander Rogers in Wilmington, DE. Donald Gene Funderburk

UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Donald Gene Funderburk, 60. died Saturday, April 17, 2021.  Graveside services were held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 4:30PM from the Goodman Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. He was born November 21, 1960 in Chesterfield, SC to the late Betty and Early Funderburk. Charles Ray Gulledge

CHESTERFIELD – Mr. Charles Ray Gulledge, age 85, entered into rest on Monday, April 26, 2021. Funeral services were held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Hopewell Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church.

Mr. Gulledge was born October 11, 1935 in Chesterfield, SC and was a son of the late Paul and Ruth Rivers Gulledge. He was a 1953 graduate of Chesterfield High School and a member of the SC National Guard with 14 years of service. A life-long faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Charles Ray was a former Sunday school teacher, Deacon, R.A. Leader, chairman of the cemetery committee, and served in various other capacities throughout the years. Mr. Gulledge was a retired supervisor at INA Bearing with 33 years of service.

A true family man, Charles Ray was deeply loved by his family and was regarded as their “hero.” His selfless love and dedication to his family was a model to all. A provider and protector of his family, Charles Ray was a mentor to many young men throughout his life. He had the ability to build or repair anything that he set his mind to. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and raising cattle. Of all things he enjoyed, time spent with his beloved wife and family traveling and taking family vacations was his favorite.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gulledge was also preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Juanita Brewington Gulledge; brothers, Alden “Skeet” Gulledge, and Dean Gulledge; and grandson, Travis Gulledge.

Survivors include his son, Tony (Teresa) Gulledge; daughters, Terry (Eugene) Campbell, and Jayne (Clyde) Watson all of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Caleb Campbell, Lorianna Campbell, Sarah Ruth Owens, Hannah Gulledge, Eli Gulledge, and Ethan Gulledge; great-grandchildren, Lily Gulledge, Crawford Campbell, Mylah Joines, Emerson Owens, Davis Campbell, and Maggie Ishmell; brother, Kenny Gulledge of Chesterfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Gulledge’s caregivers: Cindy Gibson, Louise Sims, and Moe Zwiefka.

Trumpa Tillman James

CHERAW – Trumpa Tillman James, 64, died Wednesday, March 25, 2020.  A memorial service was held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 12PM from Robinson A.M.E. Zion Church, Cheraw, SC. He was born June 7, 1955 in Cheraw, SC to the late Helen Odessa James Watson and Theodore Reid.  Survivors: son, SMSgt Anthony James; grandchildren, Aalijah James, Taevyn James and Braedyn Knight James; brothers, Calvin James and Marcus James (Sophie); nephews, Tramar James and Terrence Smith (LaGuana).  Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Cheraw. Georgia Beasley Orr

Georgia Beasley Orr passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 after a rich life as the wife of an Air Force base commander, mother to four children, early computer programmer, and MBA graduate. She was a force and a woman ahead of her time.

Born in 1928 in Cheraw, SC to Alice Anderson Beasley and Henry Carrington Beasley, she was one of three sisters. These sisters were her best friends through life, her older sister Bob Anne Gray and her younger sister Jane Moore.

Georgia graduated as a math major from Randolph Macon Woman’s College before marrying Lt. Col. Richard Orr in a double wedding alongside her older sister. After 10 years of moving to multiple Air Force assignments across the country, Georgia, her husband, and their four children settled in Winston-Salem, NC in 1960.

One of Georgia’s proudest achievements was her work with computer programming in cardiology research at Wake Forest School of Medicine during the early 1970’s. Years later Georgia boldly chose to earn an MBA at Wake Forest University and began to serve as a Board Member of the Palmetto Brick Company.

Moving to High Point, NC in 1985, Georgia continued her passion for gardening which included joining the Mid-Week Garden Club and spending time each year for 20 years exploring English gardens with her two sisters. She was a productive member of the Eighth Day Unity Group of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was a key contributor to the Gifts That Transform the World project.  Other memberships included the Wilson Quarterly discussion group and the High Point Study Club.

Georgia is preceded in death by her former husband and two beloved sisters. She is survived by her four children Richard Orr, Jr. (Ivey), Mary Alice Ringo (Jim), Liston Orr (Carolyn), and Georgia Saylor (Greg). Her family includes 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren (and counting).

The service was held Saturday, May 1st at 11:00 AM at the Wesley Memorial Church. The family greeted friends on the front lawn following the service.

Rosezell McFarlin Ratliff

CHESTERFIELD – Rosezell McFarlin Ratliff, 80, died Sunday, April 18, 2021.  Graveside services were held Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 2PM from the Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles Doctrine, Inc Cemetery, Chesterfield SC. She was born in Chesterfield, SC on September 17, 1940 to the late Elmo and Roberta Evans McFarlin. Survivors: daughters, Deborah Ratliff and Emily Ratliff of the home; sons: Harvey Ratliff, Eric Ratliff, Rodney (Demetrias) Ratliff, all of Chesterfield, SC; brother, James Arnez McFarlin of Chesterfield, SC; sisters, Audrey (Jimmy) Ratliff, Genette Sowell, Darlene McFarland, all of Chesterfield, SC and Flora Bell (Ernest) Ishmell of Cheraw, SC; daughter-in-law, Loretta Ratliff of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Adam, Courtney, Joshua, Dontrell, Shannon, Sabrina, and Ciara; great-grandchildren, Milo, Amore, MaKayla and Joshua.  Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Chesterfield. William Edward ‘Billy’ Redfearn Jr.
CHERAW – Mr. William Edward “Billy” Redfearn, Jr., age 90, entered into rest on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Westside Baptist Church by Dr. Steve West with burial following in the Chesterfield Cemetery. The family greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Redfearn was born February 13, 1931 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the son of the late W.E. “Bill” Redfearn, Sr. and Sara Mangum. Billy attended Chesterfield High School where he was a three-sport athlete. Billy was also a member of the American Legion baseball team that advanced to the state championship.

Mr. Redfearn served his country in the Army as a Korean War veteran. His formal education included attending Furman University and the Citadel. Billy also received an Associate’s of Science degree from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Dallas, TX. He worked for many years at the Redfearn Funeral Home located in Cheraw. Mr. Redfearn also worked in various positions at the Cheraw Post Office until his retirement.

Billy and his family attended Westside Baptist Church for many years. He served in many various positions through the years including former Sunday School Superintendent, Usher Chairman, and on the church nominating committee.

Mr. Redfearn was a deeply devoted, and selfless provider for his family who loved him dearly. Billy was well respected and modeled integrity and honesty. He greeted everyone with his pleasant smile and caring attitude.

Billy leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Welsh Redfearn; son, Thomas William Redfearn of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Sarah Whitley (Avera) of Oakboro, NC; sister-in-law, Peggy Redfearn of Chesterfield, SC; and niece, Elaine Redfearn of Mt. Pleasant, SC.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Redfearn was also preceded in death by his beloved brother, James Inglis “Jimmy” Redfearn of Chesterfield; and nephew, James Mark Redfearn of Ruby, SC.

Willie S. Williams

PAGELAND – Willie S. Williams, 75, died Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 2PM from Central High School Gymnasium, Pageland, SC. Burial with Military Rites followed in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pageland, SC. He was born September 27, 1945 to the late Eddie and Leona Williams in Warsaw, NC. Survivors: daughter, Kristy (Carl) Winchester of Matthews, NC; sons, Derrick Williams of the home and Neil Williams of Charlotte, NC; sister, Patricia Matthews of Warsaw, NC; grandchildren, Imani Parr of Rockhill, SC and Sanaa Williams of Pageland, SC; great grandson, Darian Williams.
