Linda Joyce Loflin Baker
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH – Linda Joyce Loflin Baker, 71, died Wednesday, March 18, 2020. Born, October 20, 1948 in Cheraw, SC, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Loflin. Linda worked in real estate sales.
Surviving is her husband, Keith Baker of the home, daughter, Anna Baker (Craig) Watson of Cheraw, SC, brothers, Herbert (Sarah) Loflin and Julius Loflin of Cheraw, SC, grandchildren, McKenzie (Matthew) Cunningham, William Ingold, Savannah (Josh) Coffey, and Kyle Watson, great-grandchild, Emilia Ray Cunningham.
She was preceded in death by parents listed above, brothers, Richard Loflin, Jerry Loflin and Donnie Loflin.
A celebration of life was held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 21, 2021 in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery, Cheraw, SC.

Wendell Carmen Belk
Mr. Wendell Carmen Belk, age 67, of Union County, NC, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021, at his residence.
A Celebration of Life to honor Wendell was held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in the Dogwood Room of Davis Funeral Service, 1003 E. Franklin St. Monroe, NC, 28112.
Wendell was born on July 17, 1954 in Union County, NC, a son of the late Winfred Belk and Ruth Rape Belk. He believed in the benefit of a hard days work and spent 31 years at Continental Tire in Charlotte, NC. A faithful servant to his Lord and Savior, he believed God was everywhere, all the time. Wendell witnessed to those around him by volunteering at his church and the local rehab center. On August 28, 1971, Wendell married the love of his life, Mellany. They would spend the next 50 years building a life together and raising a son and two daughters. He was the sunshine for his family. Loved ones meant the world to Wendell, especially his grandchildren. He loved to be in their presence and expose them to the things that meant the most to him. Wendell enjoyed music, playing the harmonica, piano and singing. He also enjoyed being in nature, whether riding on his side by side with his wife through the mountains or playing with what he referred to as his “Tonka Toys”. Wendell was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by all those that knew him.
Those left to carry on Wendell’s memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Mellany Simpson Belk; his son, Nolan Belk; his daughter, Cassie Bowlin (Brian); his daughter, Erica Thomas (Charles); his eight grandchildren; Savannah Thomas, Shelby Thomas, Deanna Dunn (Kyle); Bryson Thomas, Jake Bowlin, Samwise Thomas, Abby Bowlin, and Katie Bowlin. He is also survived by his sister, Gilda Honeycutt and many more that loved him dearly.

Johnnie ‘Bubba’ Gaskins Jr Chesterfield, SC
CHESTERFIELD – Mr. Johnnie “Bubba” Gaskins Jr, age 80, entered into rest on Friday, August 20, 2021 at his home. The family held a private family graveside service at the Gaskins Family Cemetery by Rev. Don Rhyne and Rev. Donald Wallace, Sr. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Gaskins was born February 24, 1941 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late John Lawson and Annie Bell Lewis Gaskins. A graduate of Chesterfield High School, Class of 1960, he was a lifelong farmer who began working with his uncle at the Gaskins Gin Company. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the SC National Guard. Mr. Gaskins was a faithful member of David’s Grove Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher, superintendent, Sunday school director, and youth leader. He, along with his wife, also served as the Woodmen of the World Camp Directors for 10 years. His best times were times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gaskins was also preceded in death by his sisters; Jolyn Walters and Peggy G. Rivers, and brother-in-law, Billy Wood.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Rachel Wood Gaskins of the home; sons, Robert Wayne “Bobby” (Brigetta) Gaskins and James Patrick “Jimmy” Gaskins both of Chesterfield, SC; daughter, Cynthia Annette “Cindy” Lowery (Danny Russell) of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Brandi Lowery Brumley, Paige Gaskins Lindsey, Hailey Lowery (Nathan) Ward, Jordan Gaskins, Makayla Gaskins, Sarah Gaskins, Summer Gaskins, Bobbie Lynne Gaskins, and Tyler Gaskins; great-grandchildren, Tegan Brumley, Bristol Brumley, Mya Faith Gaskins, and Derrion Kody Gaskins; brothers, Mike (Patricia) Gaskins, and Ricky (Vicky) Gaskins both of Chesterfield, SC; sister, Brenda Gaskins Curry of Chesterfield, SC; sisters-in-law, Joyce S. Wood of Cheraw, SC, Mary (Rev. Donald) Wallace, Sr. of Chesterfield, SC, Joyce Davis of Bennettsville, SC, Lynn W. Davidson of Chesterfield, SC, and Carol Traini of Cheraw, SC; brother-in-law, J.B. (Joyce) Wood of Chesterfield, SC; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Walker Jennings Griggs
WALLACE – Walker Jennings Griggs, 95, died Sunday, August 15, 2021. Born in Wallace, SC he was a son of the late Henry Walker and Bernice Collie Griggs. He was the widower of Mary Frances Griggs. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Bennettsville, SC. Mr. Griggs was a Marine Veteran of World War II. He was a retired electrical controller.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife listed above, also brothers, Edwin L. Griggs, Carlton R. Griggs, Donald B. Griggs, sisters, Doris Griggs and Frances Griggs.
A graveside service was held 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bennettsville, SC. The family received friends in the fellowship hall of the church, following the service.

Lois Magnuson Laney
CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Lois Magnuson Laney, age 89, entered into rest on Monday, August 16, 2021 at her home. Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 N. 15th Street, Wilmington, NC by Pastor Alisha Hansen.
Mrs. Laney was born January 28, 1932 in Austin, TX a daughter of the late Nels Conrad and Elaine Rector Magnuson. She was a graduate of New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC and received her Bachelor’s in Education from UNC Greensboro. Mrs. Laney retired from Chesterfield County Department of Social Services with over 30 years of service.
A very active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Lois was a faithful member of the U.M.W. and a loyal Altar Guild for many years. She was also very involved in local missions and oversaw the Bereavement Donations of the church. In her earlier years, Mrs. Laney was very involved in the Girls Scouts and the Brownies with her daughters. Following retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. Of all things important in her life, none came before her family. She always sought to make them her priority.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Laney was also preceded in death by 1 grandson, Matthew Ross Szabo.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 67 years, Emsley A. Laney, Jr. of the home; children, Kathy (Charles) Snow of Charlotte, NC, Emsley A. (Kathy) Laney, III of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, and Laura (Steve) Szabo of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Caroline Snow, Andrew (Kalyn) Snow, Holly (Brennan) Dooley, Graham (Tricia) Chrisley, Austin Chrisley, Ashlyn Laney, Emily Szabo, and Shannon Szabo; great grandchildren, Jack Dooley, Logan Dooley, Emsley Snow, and Lily Snow; and several cousins whom she loved so much and her extended family that was always so close.

She was born August 24, 1969, in Chesterfield, SC to Otis Little and Ernestine Ruben Little. Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Parker Noel
CHERAW – Mrs. Cynthia “Cindy” Parker Noel, 56, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021. Born, December 1, 1964, in Cheraw, SC, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Frances Bryant Parker. Cindy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved her children, grandchildren, and late husband with all of her heart and soul and would do anything for them and to protect them. Cindy was a jokester and loved cutting up with family and friends any chance she got. She was a giver and would give to anyone who needed it. Her love and devotion to family showed by the way she took care of her parents until the time that they passed away and the way she still took care of her children and grandchildren. Her entire life revolved around her family and loved ones. Although she only had two biological daughters, many others considered her a second mother as she loved and accepted everyone exactly as they were.
Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by her loving husband and love of her life, Michael Noel; and a brother, George Parker.
Cindy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving daughters, Michael “Mica” Dowdy and husband, Travis of Bennettsville, SC and Jade Johnson and husband, David of Cheraw, SC; a brother, Eugene Parker of Hartsville, SC; her lifelong best friend that was more like a sister, Renee Brown of Society Hill, SC; and grandchildren, Holden and Parker Dowdy, and Sadie Johnson.
A memorial service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC. The family received friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. just prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jeffrey Glenn ‘Jeff’ Rollins
Mt. CROGHAN – Mr. Jeffrey Glenn “Jeff” Rollins, age 59, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at his home after a very courageous battle with lung cancer. Funeral services were held at 4:00 PM Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Tadlock and Rev. Kevin Cribb with burial following in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Rollins was born December 27, 1961 in Chesterfield County, SC a son of Thelma Cook Melton and the late Charles Ray “Boss” Rollings. He was employed with Jefferson Barns and Lumber with over 30 years of service. An avid outdoorsman, Jeff enjoyed farming, riding four-wheelers and horses. He had a huge heart for his animals and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his father, Mr. Rollins was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Wendell Nobles; mother-in-law, Myrtle Mae Baker; brother-in-law, Jim Watts; and brother of the heart, Danny Ray Steen.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Robin Rollins of the home; children, Christopher (Jessica) Freeman of Jefferson, SC, and Mikey (Cortney) Freeman of Heath Springs, SC; grandchildren, Emma Freeman and Ava Freeman; mother, Thelma Melton of Kershaw, SC; brothers, Randy (Angie) Rollins of Wallace, SC, and Wayne (Lori) Melton of Kershaw, SC; sisters, Elizabeth (Lennis) Williams of Cheraw, SC, Darla “Motsy” Watts, and Angie Miles both of Jefferson, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; close friend and employer, Tony L. Donahue and his extended work family at Jefferson Barns and Lumber; close friends and “Godparents,” Jackie & Jean Campbell of Jefferson, SC; and his loving dogs, “Roxy” & “Prissy.”
