Marie Elizabeth McCray Burr

FAYETTEVILLE – Marie Elizabeth McCray Burr, 92, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021.  Funeral service was held, Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 2PM from the Mt. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Chesterfield, SC. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. She was born August 17, 1929, in Laurinburg, NC to Albert and Odell Smith McCray. Survivors: two daughters Carolyn Burr-Bittle (Frederick) of Fayetteville, NC and Jennifer Burr of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Retha Bell Burch and Coletha Giles, both of Pageland, SC; a host of nieces and nephews. Patricia Ann Davis

CHERAW – Patricia Ann Davis, 69, died on Monday, October 11, 2021. Born, September 12, 1952, in Wallace, SC, she was a daughter of the late Kenney Blake and Edith Ann Freeman Frazier. Patricia was a former employee of Burlington Industries and Stanley Tools. She also loved spending time with her family and her beloved dog Elvis.

Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra K. Pate, and a grandson, Joshua Ryan Davis.

Patricia leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 52 years, Kenneth Marion Davis of the home; sons, Kenneth Paul Davis and wife, Melissa of Cheraw, SC and Jeffery Scott Davis and wife, Debra of Cheraw, SC; a brother, John Larry Frazier and wife, Nina of Cheraw, SC; two grandchildren, Amanda Davis and husband, Steven and Katelyn Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Juliana Davis and Serena Davis.

The family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, and Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the family home located at 103 Sharon Street, Cheraw, SC 29520.

Cecil Earp

CHERAW – Mr. Cecil Earp, 87, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Born, August 6, 1934, in Spring Hope, NC, he was the son of the late Luther Canie and Lula Denton Earp. Cecil was a member of Brock’s Mill Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC. Mr. Earp served his country proudly in the United States Army. He retired as a truck driver with Stanley Tools.

Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Doris “Dot” Earp; best friend and son, Jeff Earp; and eleven siblings, including his twin sister, Renova.

Cecil leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sister-in-law, Delores Lewis and husband, Bobby; niece and caregiver, Linda Haynes and husband, Larry, niece, Lisa Beam and husband, Herbie and nephew, Kenny Lewis and wife, Carmen.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC. Burial followed at Brock’s Mill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cheraw, SC.

The family receiveed friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. just prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Benjamin Weston and all of the nurses at McLeod Health-Cheraw for their care and compassion.

Goldia Faye Campbell Johnson

CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Goldia Faye Campbell Johnson, age 84, entered into rest on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at her home. Funeral services were 11:00 AM Monday, October 18, 2021 at Rocky Creek Presbyterian Church by Pastor Sue Black and Brent Taylor with burial following in the Church Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Monday prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Johnson was born March 30, 1937 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Daniel Fred and Mary Ratliff Campbell. She was a graduate of Pageland High School and Montreat College. She grew up attending White Oak Presbyterian Church and after marriage joined Rocky Creek Presbyterian Church where she was an active member her entire adult life. Goldia was a retired employee of Sandhill Telephone with over 35 years of service. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling the world, collecting porcelain dolls and Swarovski Crystal.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was also preceded in death by her husband, William D. “Bill” Johnson; son, William D. “Little Bill” Johnson, Jr.(All-State football player for whom the Central High School Football Stadium is named after); brother, Tommy D. Campbell; and sister-in-law, Mildred Claire Campbell.

Survivors include numerous cousins including Ronnie Campbell, Johnny Campbell, Nancy Jacobs, Douglass Ross Campbell, and Clay Demby Campbell; and nieces, Pat Horton, and Jessica H. Brubeck

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and administration of Heart and Hands Homecare, and the staff of Regency SouthernCare Hospice for the exceptional love and care shown to Mrs. Johnson and her family.

Herbert Wannamaker Loflin Sr.

CHERAW – Mr. Herbert Wannamaker Loflin, Sr., age 77, entered into rest on Thursday, October 14, 2021. Funeral services were 4:00 PM Monday, October 18, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Dennis Wallace and Brent Taylor with burial following in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Mr. Loflin was born December 18, 1943 in Marlboro County, SC a son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Johnson Loflin. He was a retired welder with Daniels Construction with over 25 years of service and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Herbert was looking forward to the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the church this month. His favorite day of the week was Sunday, spending time with all the family around the dinner table, to long golf-cart rides in the evenings with his wife and great grandchildren. An avid deer hunter, Herbert was a member of Cash Lakes Hunting Club, and Colonel Cobb’s Hunting Club. He also enjoyed manufacturing grills, smokers, and trailers, and raising his hunting dogs. A man with a giving heart, Herbert also enjoyed growing a vegetable garden each year to share with his neighbors and friends. One of his greatest memories occurred recently when his family arranged for him to ride an Air Boat at Myrtle Beach, SC.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Loflin was also preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Loflin, Jerry Loflin, Donnie Loflin, and Linda Baker.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sarah B. “Butch” Loflin of the home; children, Herbert Loflin, Jr. of Laurinburg, NC, John Robert “Bobby” (Lynn) Loflin of Teal’s Mill, SC, John Robert “Sam” Loflin, Jr. of the home; and Susan “Michelle” (Vincent James) Griggs of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Kristy (Johnnie, IV) Driggers of Laurinburg, NC, Landon Chase Loflin of Hamlet, NC, Dustin Coleman (Alexyss Parker) Loflin of Cheraw, SC, Brad (Lindsay) Gainey of Little Mountain, SC, Megan (Justin) McDowell of Cheraw, SC, Nikki (Devin Tolson) Griggs of Patrick, SC; great grandchildren, Johnnie V, Abigale, Molly, Maggie, Marah, Kaydence, Sadie, and Kolby; brother, Julius (Sally Jackson) Loflin, Sr. of Cheraw, SC; brother-in-law, Keith Baker of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; sister-in-law, Pat Burr of Bladenboro, NC; special friends, Wilbur Burns, Billy Sylvia, Woodrow Mathis, and George Sellers; and numerous niece and nephews.

Margaret Allen Pegues

CHERAW – Mrs. Margaret Allen Pegues, age 92, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Funeral services were 3:00 PM Sunday, October 17, 2021 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Michael Davis with burial following in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pegues was born March 31, 1929 in Cheraw, SC a daughter of the late Robert and Fannie Lyons Allen. She was a retired dietician with Chesterfield County School District with over 25 years of service and a faithful member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Margaret sang in the church choir, and was very active in the UMW and the Senior Circle for many years. She enjoyed baking cakes and sharing those with her friends and family. A lady who loved her family deeply, Margaret’s world revolved around them and keeping them “In-Line.”

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pegues was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Preston Pegues; son, Larry Wayne Allen; daughter, Angela Kay Johnson; granddaughter, Wendy Elaine Johnson; son-in-law, James T. Morris; brother, Robert Allen; and sister, Mary English.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia “Pat” Morris of the home; grandchildren, Dan (Debbie) Johnson, Margaret Pegues, Tammy Pegues, and Sabina “Beanie” (Sean) Taylor; great grandchildren, Preston (Rachel Blackwell) Johnson, Marissa Johnson, Mindy (Weston) English, Julie Taylor, Lily Taylor, Sienna Taylor, Sam Crowell, Autumn Taylor, Hailey Johnson, Willow Taylor, Michelle Pegues, and Elizabeth Cason; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Angie Lynn Sowell

WINGATE, N.C. – Angie Lynn Sowell, 50, died Friday, October 8, 2021. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 2PM from the Pageland Community Center, Pageland, SC. Burial followed in the Mt. Elon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC.  Survivors: her fiancé, Ernest Richardson, Wingate, NC; a son, Mechael Lockhart of Atlanta GA, two daughters; Shaleilei Chambers and Jontesia Winfield of Wingate, NC; a grandson, Kamarion Huntly of Wingate, NC; seven sisters, Teresa Jackson of Pageland, SC, Phyllis Covington of Lancaster, SC, Kay Frances of Darlington, SC, Patricia (Howard) Miller of Jefferson, SC, Kathy (Lynell) Louallen of Jefferson, SC, Diane (Robbie) Tyler of Dallas, NC and Joyce (James) Chambers of Pageland, SC; eight brothers, Willie James Kirkland of Charlotte, NC,  Tony Sowell and Ron Sowell both  of Pageland, SC, Steven (Melissa) Sowell of Jefferson, SC, Mickey (Rita) McManus of Pageland, SC, Marty McManus of Pageland, SC and Eugene Kirkland of Angelus, SC; a close sister, Maevon Seegars of Pageland, SC. Jaynee Ruth Threatt

ORANGEBURG – Jaynee Ruth Threatt, 62, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021.  Graveside service was held, Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 3PM from the Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Pageland, SC. She was born July 31, 1959 in Pageland, SC to the late Hazel and Hattie Lockhart Threatt. Survivors: eight siblings, Margie Threatt Williams (Bob), Lancaster SC, Hazel Threatt Jr., Lancaster SC, Harold Threatt (Frances), Pageland SC, Carson Threatt, Pageland SC, Eustace Threatt (Christine), Waxhaw NC, Jerry Threatt, Pageland SC, Gary Threatt (Renee), Pageland SC and Paul Threatt (Mildred), Pageland SC a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
