Marcus Sammie ‘Sam’ Catoe

JEFFERSON – Mr. Marcus Sammie “Sam” Catoe, age 74, entered into rest on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at his home. Graveside services were held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Tim Williams. The family greeted friends following the service at the cemetery.

Friends could visit Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 between the hours of 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM to view and pay their respects.

Mr. Catoe was born February 1, 1947 in Lancaster, SC a son of the late Julius Cromwell Catoe and Ethel Vincent Catoe. He was a retired employee of H & K Interiors and a former mechanic at Jefferson Auto Parts. Sam was a former member of Union Hill Baptist Church. His hobbies included “tinkering” on antique cars, especially an old Ford with a Chevrolet engine. He was affectionately known as the Saturday afternoon “Shade-Tree Mechanic” of Angelus.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Catoe was also preceded in death by “Junior” Wylie Catoe and William Catoe; sisters, Betty Hancock, Ethelene Catoe, Peggy D. Catoe, Mabelene Jenkins, Helen Catoe, and Fannie Mae Mahaffey.

Survivors include his sons, John Marcus (Donna) Catoe of McBee, SC, and Adam (Stacey) Catoe of Jefferson, SC; and their mother, Linda Catoe of Jefferson, SC; grandchildren, Joshua (Ana) Branham, and Lucas Catoe; great grandchild, Dawsen Branham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tony M. Crenshaw

PATRICK – SFC Tony M. Crenshaw (US Army RET) age 75, entered into rest on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Lower Macedonia Baptist Church by Pastor Tracy Hinson, Dr. Lindsey Powell, and Brent Taylor with burial following in the Lower Macedonia Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Thursday prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.

Friends could visit Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 between the hours of 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM to view and pay their respects.

Mr. Crenshaw was born October 16, 1946 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Randolph Henry and Ruby Caulder Crenshaw. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class from the SC Army National Guard with over 32 years of service. During his military career, Tony was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, in addition to numerous other badges and ribbons.

Following his military career, Mr. Crenshaw was employed with McCoy – Ellison Machinery Company. He was a faithful member of Lower Macedonia Baptist Church, where he enjoyed participating in the annual Living Last Supper drama. Tony enjoyed working on antique cars and tractors, and was known to be a collector of “valuables.” He had a special place in his heart for animals and loved his cats and dogs. A man who had a big heart and never met a stranger, Tony would give you the shirt off his back. He was always seeking ways to help others. He will be fondly remembered as a man who loved God, his family, and his country.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Crenshaw was also preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Byrd Crenshaw; and brother-in-law, Bobby Morris.

Survivors include his wife, Lesa Marie Crenshaw of the home; son, Tony Michael (Andrea) Crenshaw, II of Patrick, SC; daughter, Amy L. (Chuck Tucker) Crenshaw of Society Hill, SC; grandchildren, Charles Austin Tucker, Summer Jade Crenshaw, Madison Elizabeth Crenshaw, Ruby Caroline Crenshaw, and Macy McDonald;1 great granddaughter; brother, Virgil C. (Mildred) Crenshaw of Cheraw, SC; sisters, Bonnie C. Morris of Cheraw, SC, Joyce C. (Tom) Smith, and Gail C. Paul both of Patrick, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty Griggs English

WALLACE – Mrs. Betty Griggs English, 83, died on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Born, June 24, 1938, in Marlboro County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Julia Leviner Griggs.  Betty was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Wallace, SC, and a charter member of the Wallace Rescue Squad where she was a certified EMT. She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed cooking, canning, and reading. Betty also loved going to her 57-year standing Wednesday hair appointment.

Along with her parents, listed above, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Zeb Wilson English; a daughter, Gaynell Coates; a son, Randy English; a grandson, Jeffrey Polson; and 12 brothers and sisters.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Andy (Hope) English of Cheraw, SC, Frankie English of Wallace, SC, and Brittany (Mandy) English of Bennettsville, SC; a daughter, Elaine (Tony) Creech of Wallace, SC; a brother, Edwin Griggs of Wallace, SC 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC. Burial followed at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wallace, SC.

The family received friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. just prior to the service on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC.

Ronnie Perkins

BENNETTSVILLE – Mr. Ronnie Perkins, 63, died on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Born, February 14, 1958, in Bennettsville, SC, he was a son of the late Henry and Kathleen Pate Perkins. Ronnie was in the South Carolina National Guard and was a fabricator in Textiles. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, which were his world.

Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Fine Perkins, and a sister, Donna Marie Perkins.

Ronnie leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Sandra Hayes Perkins of the home; a son, Colby O’Neal and wife, Tobae of Columbia, SC; a daughter, Chandler O’Neal of Bennettsville, SC; brothers, David Perkins of Clio, SC, and Sherwood Perkins of Bennettsville, SC; sisters, Susie Patterson and husband, Mickey of Bennettsville, Faye Nolan of Bennettsville, SC, and Joyce Brown, of Cheraw, SC; and his grandchildren, Bryce O’Neal, Emery O’Neal, Emmit O’Neal, and Talon Pate.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Mt. Elem Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Clio, SC.
