Otis Gainey Jr.

CHESTERFIELD – Otis Gainey, Jr., 61, of Chesterfield, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022. He was born in Cheraw, SC, a son of the late Mittie Purvis Gainey and Odis Gainey. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Bobby Gainey (Sissy) and Larry Gainey (Ruby); one sister, Anita Hicks (Bo); and a nephew, Michael White (Tonya). Otis was a truck driver by trade, and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who loved traveling and seeing America. His favorite place was St. Augustine, FL. He enjoyed grilling and a good cook-out and spending time with his family and friends. He was a great fisherman and was always good for a laugh and a story. He is survived by his children, Ethan Gainey and Holly Fuzz (Nikko); a sister, Patsy White; six nieces and nephews, Sharon Odom (Michael), Shannon Goolsby (Bobby), Robert Gainey (Bobbi Jo), Mark Gainey (Mindy), Crystal Stamey (Dennis) and Melissa Suydam (Bryan); ten great-nieces and great-nephews, Courtney Frazier (Maneesah), Joshua Woods, Brandon Odom, Hunter Gainey, Mason Gainey, Brittany Lagunas (Nico), Logan Stamey, Jordan Stamey, Hunter White and Alex White; and two step-children, Adam Tate and Katie Tate. Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gainey family.

Donna Nicholson Hicks

PAGELAND – Mrs. Donna Nicholson Hicks, 57, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022 while surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hicks was born on July 18, 1964 in Monroe, NC to the late Johnny L. Nicholson and JoAnn Jenke Nicholson. She worked 30 years in the medical profession and was an active member of Providence Baptist Church. Donna enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband and taking trips to the beach. One of her favorite past times were all kinds of arts and crafts. Donna loved cooking meals for the whole family as this truly brought her joy to have her whole family together. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Tim Hicks of the home; sons, Brad Hicks (Tiffany) of Pageland and Garrett Hicks (Brandi) of Pageland, SC; brother, Michael Nicholson (Tammy) of Pageland, SC; sister, Cindy Davis (Bud) of Jefferson, SC and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends could come by Baumgartner Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM to sign the register book and pay their respects. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service was held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor David Bridwell and Pastor Steve Neal officiating. The family greeted friends following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 232 Providence Church Road, Pageland, SC 29728. David Laney Hudson

CHERAW – David Laney Hudson, 32, died Thursday, April 21, 2022. Born in Florence, SC he was a son of Corry Laney Hudson of Pawleys Island, SC and Mark (Dania) Hudson of Cheraw, SC. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and was an avid Tampa Bay Rays fan.

Surviving are his parents listed above, a brother, Campbell Scott Holland of Panama, sisters, Mary Carolyn Bostic of Monks Corner, SC, Kyla Ann Hudson of Cheraw, SC and his grandmother, Carolyn Hudson of Cheraw, SC.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jim Hudson, and maternal grandparents, Campbell and Butch Laney.

The family will be having a private memorial service.

James Heyward Newman

JEFFERSON – James Heyward Newman, 33, died Thursday, April 14, 2022. Graveside services were held Friday, April 22, 2022, at 3pm from the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC. He was born August 30th, 1988, to Je-Nata Kennedy Newman and the late James Edward Newman. Survivors: his mother, Ms. Je-Nata K. Newman of Jefferson, SC; a brother, Mr. Eric James Newman (Natasha) of Blythewood, SC; a sister, Mrs. Jasmine Newman Priestley (Aveon) of Raleigh, NC; and a niece, Nami Amaya Newman. Deborah Ann ‘Debbie’ Riley

CHERAW – Ms. Deborah Ann “Debbie” Riley, age 65, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 19, 2021. A graveside service was held Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Griggs Cemetery off of Campbell Lake Rd in Patrick, SC by Rev. John Griggs. The family greeted friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Ms. Riley was born March 31, 1957 in Bennettsville, SC to Lucille Griggs Riley and the late Charles James Riley, Jr. Deborah enjoyed coloring, word puzzles, and a glass of Pepsi. Debbie was known for her infectious smile that could brighten anyone’s day.

In addition to her father, Ms. Riley was also preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Rev. CJ Riley, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Maggie Riley; maternal grandmother, Mary Davis; and maternal grandfather, Howard Davis.

Survivors include her mother, Lucille Riley of the home; brothers, Michael (Linda) Riley of Cheraw, SC, John (Donna) Riley of Lancaster, SC, Rex (Mindy) Riley of St. Louis, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
