Alberta Elizabeth Chapman

Chesterfield – Alberta Elizabeth Chapman, 88, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 12pm from the Davidson Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Chesterfield, SC. She was born February 25th, 1934 in Chesterfield, SC to the late Paul and Retha Bennett Ratliff.  Survivors: daughters, Theresa Chapman-Brown (Charles Brown) and Sheila Blackwell (Eric); a son, Arthur Wayne Chapman (Gail); grandchildren, Charles, Avery, Kelsey, Ania, and Asia; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Meghan and Briasia. Frances Isgett Matheson

CHERAW/MARIETTA, Ga.

Frances Isgett Matheson, 89, died Sunday, May 15, 2022. Born in Cheraw, SC she was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee and Irene Hall Isgett. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Marietta, GA. She was graduate and valedictorian of Cheraw High School and obtained her Bachelor of Education from Coker College. She was a retired administrator in education.

Surviving is her husband, William N Matheson of Marietta, GA, a son Dennis Matheson of Marietta, GA, a stepdaughter, Becky Matheson of Marietta, GA, nieces and nephew, Sharron McMurray, Stephine Isgett and Scott Isgett.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 19, 2022 in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw, SC.

Helen Kennington Miles

MCBEE – Mrs. Helen Kennington Miles, age 75, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Beauford Baptist Church by Pastor Tim Williams with burial following in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. The family also greeted friends on Sunday from 2:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Miles was born November 3, 1946 in the Angelus Community of Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Carl and Nellie Gainey Kennington. She was a former employee of Kendall Textiles and a faithful member of Beauford Baptist Church. A true matriarch of her family, Helen’s heart was taking care of her family and friends. She also was an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking, working in her flowers, and working word search puzzles. One of her favorite stops with her husband was at the Hardee’s breakfast group in Hartsville.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miles was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Christopher Adams; and all of her siblings, James Kennington, Heyward Kennington, Grace Rankin, Bleaker Brock, Louise Terry, Lois Brock, Junior Kennington, Cletus Kennington, Evaughn Leophart, and Eloise Odom.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 42 years, Don Miles of the home; daughters, Natalie Oliver of McBee, SC, Annette (Brian Diamond) Freeman of Bethune, SC; step-son, Donald (Holly) Miles, II of Whitfield, VA; grandchildren, Nichol Stroud of Hartsville, SC, Nia Stroud of McBee, SC, Brittany (J.P.) Neal of Bethune, SC, Erica (Dan Graham) Freeman of Hartsville, SC, Dylan Freeman of Bethune, SC, Thomas “Leget” Hill of McBee, SC, Alex Hill of Ashland, SC, Nichole Chestnut of Clarkesville, TN, and Skyler Miles of Whitfield, VA; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Brennen, Harley, Kali, Ravyn, Maria; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan Middleton Miller

Mrs. Joan Middleton Miller, 90, of Jefferson, SC passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Miller was born on October 1, 1931 in the Angelus community to the late Lennie Middleton, Sr. and Susie Mae Seegars Middleton. Mrs. Miller was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church. She was an extraordinary strong woman that loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very active in their life and tried to attend all of their school and sporting events. She worked in the school system for thirty-two years as a teacher and guidance counselor. Joan was an active member of the community, serving on numerous advisory boards in the Chesterfield County School System. She served as a board member of White Plains Golf Club and was one of the founding ladies of White Plains Ladies Golf Association. Mrs. Miller was an avid Clemson fan. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Edwin E. Miller Jr.; sister, Betty Sue Rollins; aunt and mother figure, Edith Jordan and nephew, Len Middleton. Mrs. Miller is survived by her son, Rusty Miller (Kelly) of Jefferson, SC; daughter, Ceil Murphy (David) of Marietta, GA; brother, Lennie S. Middleton, Jr. (Corinne) of the Angelus community; grandchildren, Will Murphy (Mary-Clayton), Anna Murphy, Matthew Murphy, Ben Miller (Lisie), Katherine Miller and Jordan Miller; great granddaughter, Shivonne Murphy; sons of the heart, Ricky Rollins (Debbie) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Phil Rollins (Teresa) of Jefferson, SC; grandchildren of the heart, Hillary Rollins, Chase Rollins, Grant Rollins, Zane Rollins (Laura), Beau Rollins and Victoria Rollins and honorary family, Elizabeth “Perk” Knight, Ann Moore and Janet Lee. There was a Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Jefferson United Methodist Church with her grandson, Ben Miller officiating. The family received friends from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 20, 2022 at her residence, 205 North Lee Street, Jefferson, SC 29718.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regency Southern Care Hospice, Attn: Grace Hospice Foundation, 205 E. Main St., Chesterfield, SC 29709 or Jefferson United Methodist Church, PO Box 308, Jefferson, SC 29718.
