Big changes at Central High School
Chesterfield County School District has announced two major changes at Central High School.
New principal
Thomas C. Brewer III has been named the new principal of Central High School. Brewer is a native of Pageland and a graduate of Central. He has been employed with the Chesterfield County School District for 17 years.
During his tenure with the district, Brewer served as a business education teacher for eight years at Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School and the Palmetto Learning Center. While at Chesterfield-Ruby Middle he also served as the head boys basketball coach.
In 2012, Brewer was named the lead teacher for the Palmetto Learning Center where he served for six years while enhancing his leadership skills. Most recently, Brewer has served as the assistant principal at Petersburg Primary School for the past four years.
New head football coach
Edward Shane Griffin has been named the new head football coach at Central. Griffin is a native of Wingate, N.C. Upon graduating from high school, Griffin was awarded an athletic scholarship to attend Wingate University where he was a four-year starter at offensive tackle. While at Wingate University, Griffin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in parks and recreation administration with a minor in coaching. In 2012 he earned his Master of Education degree in special education from the University of Phoenix. He also earned a Master of Education degree in school administration from Gardner-Webb University in 2015.
