Willard ‘Buster’ J. Griggs Jr.

PATRICK – Willard “Buster” J. Griggs, Jr., age 82, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at his home A native of Patrick, South Carolina he was the son of the late Carrie “Sara” Lee Griggs.

Buster Attended Chesterfield High School and retired from Burlington Industries after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and loved cars.

Survivors include Lucille Riley (aunt), John W. Griggs (uncle), and numerous cousins. His friends and family have many fond memories of him. Buster was devoted to his mother and cared for her until her death in October of 1989. He cared deeply for his family and enjoyed the yearly family reunions where they reminisced about the good times they had together over the years. At the reunion, you could always find Buster quietly listening and laughing art the stories they shared. Buster will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Buster’s life was held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Patrick Cemetery on McNair Street in Patrick, SC.

Albert ‘Dean’ Adam Walker

Albert “Dean” Adam Walker, age 52 of Charlotte, North Carolina parted this life suddenly and expected on Sunday, June 19, 2022. Albert aka “Al” and/or “Dean” was born on May 31, 1969, in Charlotte, NC. Dean graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1988 where he was a member of the FHA/HERO from 1987-1988. Dean was recognized as the 1st student from the CMS district, Charlotte, NC to ever go the National FHA/HERO Proficiency Events in Cincinnati, Ohio where he won a silver medal in which he was very honored and extremely proud of his accomplishment.

After graduating from West Mecklenburg High School in 1988, Dean enlisted in the United States Army as active duty. He served in the HHC 2/64th Armor, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division of the United States Army in Schweinfurt, Germany, from 1988-1992.

Dean worked as a planner/scheduler for the city of Charlotte Water Field Operations Division for 25 plus years. During his tenure at Charlotte Water, he (Dean) became the 1st City of Charlotte Water Division Associate to win the GOVies (City Manager’s Award) for the People’s Choice (Inspiration_ award twice in 2019 & 2021. He also won his 1st award in 2017 with the Spirit of Giving Team. As of the current year of 2022, Dean served as the Ambassador for the Charlotte Water Field Operations Division committee where he was very instrumental in advocating for the City of Charlotte Water Field Operations Division to receive an annual increase. His determination, persistence, and uncanny approach provided identifiable factors and results. That highlighted the viability and transparency of his division and convinced City leaders to approve an annual increase for the City of Charlotte Water Division physical year 2022. During his personal time, Dean was an Independent Entrepreneur and owner of 2A Walker Photography (Capturing Shining Moments).

Dean was preceded in death by his mother; the late Barbara Mickles Walker (1995), of Charlotte, NC; and by his father-in-law; the late Arthur Simpson of Charlotte, NC.

Dean leaves to cherish his memory, is wife Nicholl Simpson Walker of Charlotte, NC; Parents Reverend Albert Louis Mickles of Rock Hill, SC; Stepmother; Frenchie Mickles of Rock Hill, SC; Mother-in-Law; Pamella Simpson of Charlotte, daughter, Alexandria (Alex) Sibby of Charlotte, NC; Granddaughter, E’Naujaa J. Sibby and Grandson, M’Kazi D. Sibby of Charlotte, NC, two sisters: April Massey of Ft. Lawn, SC and Jamesa Mickles of Rock Hill, SC, four brothers: Lawrence E. Walker of Charlotte, NC, Carnell E. Walker (Angela) of Pageland, SC, Tony B. Walker of Charlotte, NC, and Sherrod Mickles (Elaine) of Conway, SC, aunt, Kathryn Austin of Rock Hill, SC, two uncles: Joseph Mickles (Shirley) of Rock Hill, SC, Rickey Mickles of Rock Hill, SC, nieces, nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
