Mary Jane Campbell
CHERAW – Mrs. Mary Jane Campbell, 94, died on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Born, August 30, 1927, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Furman Palmer and Irene Smith. Jane was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cheraw, SC, where she was one of the oldest members of the Kinsey Mulloy Ladies Class. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and loved showing horses, and loved her donkey, Peanut and her dog, Ziggy. Jane enjoyed traveling with her brother, William, and most of all loved late model stock car racing with her son, Earl.
Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, Edward E. Campbell, Sr.; and brothers, John Smith, and Furman P. Smith.
Jane leaves behind to cherish her memory, a son, Earl Campbell (Kelly Fisher) of Chesterfield, SC; a daughter, Sheila Thomas (Jack) of Cheraw, SC; brothers, Samuel Smith (Barbara) of Charlotte, NC, and William Smith of Lexington, SC; a granddaughter, Jessica Thomas (Timothy Clinkscales); great-grandchildren, Rain Rivers, Lake Clinkscales, and Dax Clinkscales; a special sister-in-law, Linda Parker; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at First United Methodist Church of Cheraw. Burial followed in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
The family received friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. just prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Deborah Jean Nolan Lear
WALLACE – Mrs. Deborah Jean Nolan Lear, age 67, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Forest Pine Church by Pastor Danny Malloy and the Honorable Rep. Pastor Richie Yow with burial following in the church cemetery. The family received friends on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Lear was born May 9, 1955 in New Jersey, a daughter of the late Leonard F. and Lorna Morrison Ward. She was a former employee of Chesterfield General Hospital, INA Bearing, and McBride’s Cleaners. Deborah was a faithful member of Forest Pine Church where she enjoyed singing and worshipping the Lord. She also enjoyed playing bingo and traveling on family vacations. A lady who loved her family deeply, her beloved title was “Mee-Ma” to everyone.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lear was also preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis A. Nolan; son, Patrick A. Nolan; and brothers, Larry Ward, and Wayne Ward.
Survivors include her husband, Fred D. Lear; son, Sky (Hope) Nolan; daughter, Buffie (Doug) Kasler both of Wallace, SC; grandchildren, Skylar Lee, Alexis Cooper, Hadley Moore, Landon Nolan, Kaleb Kasler, Kelsie Rayne Kasler; great grandchildren, Daxlyn Lee, Nolan Presnell, and Hasher Jones; brothers, Harry Ward, Walter Ward; sisters, Marie Peele, and Madeline Bonesteele; and brother-in-law, Robert Lear.

Francis Jennings Quick
WALLACE – Mr. Francis Jennings Quick, 87, died on Monday, August 1, 2022. Born, May 17, 1935, in Marlboro County, SC he was a son of the late Luther and Essie Elizabeth Quick. Mr. Quick was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Wallace, where he was a Deacon, and enjoyed taking care of the church, its grounds, and the cemetery. He worked for Klopman Mills in Society Hill, SC until he retired. He loved farming, drinking his coffee, and sitting outside on the swing. Most of all, Mr. Quick loved spending time with his family.
Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Jean Brock Quick; a son, Bruce Jennings Quick; brothers, Ben Tillman Quick, Ansel Ray Quick, Luther Franklin Quick, Lawrence Stanton Quick, Sr., and Oscar Kenny Quick; and sisters, Eleanor Quick Sellers, Theo Quick Oliver, and Essie Lucille Cagle.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons, Brian Jeffrey Quick, Kenneth Dawson Quick, and Francis Timothy Quick; grandchildren, Brandon Quick, Kelynn Keith, Gavin Quick, Zack Quick, Brock Quick, Darren Quick, Miranda Quick, and Ethan Quick; and 8 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
The family received friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday just prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Artha Lowrimore Sompayrac
FLORENCE/CHERAW
Artha Lowrimore Sompayrac, 90, died Monday, August 1, 2022. Born in Cheraw, SC, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Lillie Maude Hopkins Lowrimore and the widow of Henry Charles Sompayrac. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cheraw, and Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church of Hanahan, SC. She worked with the Berkley County Public School System and will be remembered as a loving, loyal, and giving lady who was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Dove Giles (Derek) of Goose Creek, SC and a sister, Norma Jean Brewer of Cheraw, SC, 3 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents listed above, her son, Charles Michael Sompayrac and brother, Roy Lowrimore, Jr.
A graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Welsh Neck Baptist Church Cemetery, Society Hill, SC.

Hedwig “Hedy” Barbara Unsin Waller
CHERAW – Mrs. Hedwig “Hedy” Barbara Unsin Waller, 96, died on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Born, August 30, 1925, in Grobenzell-Munich, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Karl and Barbara Unsin. Mrs. Waller loved volunteer work, antiquing, and was an avid gardener, gardening, 10 hours each day. She loved animals, even having the pet park in Cheraw named after her and her husband.
Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, William “Jerry” Wright Waller; a daughter, Glenna Calvin; a sister, Emghart Donhauser; and a daughter-in-law, Martha Waller.
Hedy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Tom Waller (Karen) of Chesterfield, SC and John P. Waller (Tonya) of Chattanooga, TN; a daughter, Jane Levans (Michael) of Rock Hill, SC; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at a later date.

James Bert Watson
LANCASTER – Rev. James Bert Watson, age 93, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022. He was born May 5, 1929, in Chesterfield, SC, a son of the late Claude Aaron Watson and the late Olivia Boatright Watson and was the husband of the late Lessie Teal Watson. Rev. Watson was in ministry as a Methodist Minister for 40 years. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and spending time with his family. In his younger years, he loved photography and construction work. Rev. Watson was a Pastor Emeritus at Osceola United Methodist Church.
Rev. Watson is survived by his children, Gary Watson, and his wife, Delta of Lancaster, Mike Watson, and his wife, Lisa of Lancaster, and Beth W. Ramsey, and her husband, Bratton of Hickory Grove, SC; six grandchildren, Allan Ramsey (Cyndi), Amy R. Lawton (Robert), Erin Teal Jacobson (Shaun), Nick Watson, Lauren Olivia Chaney (Scott), and Chad Watson (Lynn); five great grandchildren, Wesley Ramsey (Jennie Bagwell), Grady Ramsey, Charlotte, Amelia, and Caleb Jacobson.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Bert Watson; his parents, Claude and Olivia Watson; and his sister, Betty Rivers (Jack).
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Rev. Watson was held at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 7, 2022, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Tony Adams. Burial followed at Osceola United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to HOPE of Lancaster, 2008 Pageland Hwy, Lancaster, SC 29720 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
