Edith Ann Dixon
CHERAW – Edith Ann Dixon, 67, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022. She was born August 29, 1955, to the late Peggy and Junior L. Roscoe. Edith loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was known to be found out in her yard, where she loved to work and be surrounded by her beautiful flowers. She carried many titles throughout her life, such as, daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana and Aunt Eddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, a daughter, Tammy Griggs, her late husbands, Johnny Dixon and Buster Leslie, and a sister, Peggy Lynn.
Edith leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Peggy (Charles) Lett, Amanda Dixon, brothers, Carlton (Mary)Roscoe, Danny (Paula) Roscoe, 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her best friend/sister-in-law Mary “Skeeter” Roscoe.

Selma Rae Rivers Henderson
CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Selma Rae Rivers Henderson, 99, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 10, 2022 at McLeod Health Cheraw in Cheraw, SC. Born on December 6, 1922, in Chesterfield, SC, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Ray Rivers and Clarice Clark Rivers of Chesterfield.
A lifelong resident of Chesterfield, “Meme,” as she was affectionately known by many of those who loved her, was a 1939 graduate of Chesterfield High School and a 1943 magna cum laude graduate of Coker College. She taught English and History at Chesterfield High School, where she touched many lives.
Selma Rae was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She held various positions within the church including United Methodist Women, administrative council, adult and family ministries, altar guild, prayer group leader, and worship committee chair. In addition to her church involvement, she was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed playing bridge, and was an avid walker. However, her greatest joy in life was time spent with her beloved family.
She was active in many civic and community organizations. In 1965, Selma Rae was inducted into the Chesterfield County Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG). During her service with DKG, she held numerous leadership positions including chairman of the professional affairs committee, recording secretary, and served as a member of the executive board. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the Omicron Chapter. She was a former member of the Chesterfield Beautification Committee. For her dedication to the town of Chesterfield, she received the William Duke Craig Lifetime Community Service Award in 2004.
In addition to her parents, Selma Rae was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Franklin “Jimmie” Henderson; son, James Franklin Henderson, Jr; brother, Alfred Clark Rivers, and beloved nephew, Edward Ray Rivers.
Survivors are her sons, Robert Glenn Henderson and wife Teenia of Grover, NC and Roger Edward Henderson and wife Sarah Jane of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Robert Edward Henderson (Peggy), Elizabeth Ann Henderson, Christopher Glenn Henderson (Sarah), Emory Clark Henderson, Charlotte Rae Henderson Watson (Gabe), and Roger Edward Henderson, Jr. (Christie); great grandchildren, Robert Austin Henderson (Montanna), Anna Clarice Campbell, Bishop McIver Campbell, Carolina Grace Henderson, Rivers Gabe Watson, Claire Elizabeth Henderson, Chatham Colt Henderson, Roger Edward “Hank” Henderson, III, and George Faulkner Henderson; sister-in-law, Janice Campbell Rivers, and special friends Barbara Pruitt and Bonnie Williams, both of Chesterfield.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in Chesterfield Cemetery. The family greeted friends following the burial at the cemetery and other times at the home of Roger and Sarah Jane Henderson.

Betty Roscoe Linton
SOCIETY HILL – Mrs. Betty Roscoe Linton, age 60, entered into rest on Friday, September 2, 2022 at her home. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Reverend Bob Sloan with burial following in the Roscoe Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 12:00 – 1:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Linton was born November 29, 1961 in Chesterfield, SC and a daughter of the late Keith Roscoe and Shirley Davis Johnson. She was a seamstress and homemaker who loved her family very much. Betty also enjoyed fishing and working in her garden.
Survivors include her husband, Joey “Juicy” Linton of the home; sons, Teddy (Kathy) Roscoe of Laurinburg, NC, and Rodney Quick of Society Hill, SC; grandchildren, T.J. Roscoe, Kynnedy Quick, Zoey Quick, and R.J. Quick; brother, Randy (Lynn) Roscoe of Patrick, SC; sisters, Robbie Roscoe of Wallace, SC, and Carol Jones of Cheraw, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna McElroy Marr
WALLACE – Mrs. Edna McElroy Marr, 89, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Born, June 7, 1933, in Rockwood, TN, she was a daughter of the late Forest and Cecil Roxie Grigsby McElroy. Mrs. Marr graduated in 1952 from high school in Bristol, TN. She worked for Burlington Industries and the Cheraw Chronicle and was a member of Cheraw Church of God. Edna will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed crafts, painting, sewing, word games, and working in flowers.
Along with her parents, listed above, Edna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hugh W. Marr, Jr., a brother, Arvil McElroy, and a sister Patsy Reynolds.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a son, William Glenn Marr of Wallace, SC; daughter, Ginger L. Martin of North Myrtle Beach, SC; two grandchildren, Michael Martin, and John Martin.
A funeral service was held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home. Burial followed in Florence National Cemetery in Florence, SC.
The family received friends from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. just prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Nancy Ann Porpiglia Ryman
RUBY – Mrs. Nancy Ann Porpiglia Ryman entered into rest on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the age of 61. The family will host a private memorial service at a later date.
Mrs. Ryman was born April 22, 1961 in Hazelton, PA a daughter of the late Carmen and Santa Nataro Porpiglia. Nancy enjoyed the water and she could often be found near the beach or by the pool. Above all, Mrs. Ryman was a wonderful and loving grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her infant sister, Donna Porpiglia.
Survivors include her husband, John Ryman, Jr. of the home; children, Alison Kelly of Shamokin, PA, Megan (Foster) Kelly of Coal Township, PA, John Ryman III of Ruby, SC, Christopher (Brittany) Watson of Florida; grandchildren, Avery, Everly, Hunter; sister, Carmine Abraham of Wilkes Bare, PA; niece, Jessica Abraham of Wilkes Bare, PA; and sister of the heart, Kimbaly Sowell of New London, NC.

Lottie Ruth Thomas
WALLACE – Mrs. Lottie Ruth Goin Thomas, 85, died on Friday, September 9, 2022. Born, February 1, 1937, in Coldwater, MS, she was a daughter of the late Ruby Goin. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Wallace Baptist Church in Wallace, SC and enjoyed gardening, painting, and portraits. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and singing.
Along with her mother, listed above, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles Edward Thomas; a son, Eddie Thomas, and wife Joyce; and her stepfather, Jessie McMinn.
Lottie leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter, Debbie Bosworth (Dave) of West End, NC; sons, Ralph Thomas (Pam) of Wallace, SC, and Keith Thomas (Glenda) of Cheraw, SC; 11 grandchildren, Johnathan Johnson (Rebecca of Peyton, CO, Cheri Brewer of Vass, NC, Elizabeth McPherson Flynn (Tyler) of Vass, NC, Kadin, Baylen Thomas of Cheraw, SC, Josh Thomas (Hannah) of Cheraw, SC, Heather Rivers (Jason) of Wallace, SC, Garrett Lee (Chasity) of Cheraw, SC, Shannon Weil (Damian) of Marshville, NC, Dustin Davis (Stacey) of Cheraw, SC, and Melissa Martin of Ansonville, NC; 17 great-grandchildren, Tristin Stewart, Ledger Johnson, Peyton Brewer, Haleigh Beal (Devon), D.J. McPherson, Khloe Flynn, Emily Thomas, Cameron, Everly Weil, Makayla, MaKenzie, Hunner Rivers, Grayden, Aubreigh, Ember, Cheston, Shyanne; 2 great-great grandchildren, Jeffery and Magnolia Rae Beal; a half-brother, Ricky McMinn; a half-sister, Patricia York; and several cousins, all of Mississippi.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Wallace Baptist Church in Wallace, SC. Burial will follow in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
The family received friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. just prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
