Chesterfield County Rural Water, Pageland issue water notices

Chesterfield County Rural Water Company has issued a boil water advisory system-wide until further notice. This is just for precautionary measures.

Water customers should continue to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking until notified by CCRWC.  Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

The CCRWC website includes the following information:

There has been no confirmed contamination of the system; however, because of the use of an emergency connection & loss of pressure, a slight potential for bacteriological contamination exists.

Therefore, as a precautionary measure, SCDHEC requires CCRWC to issue this advisory when an event occurs that allows the possibility for bacteria to enter the water system.

The boil water advisory is a precautionary measure to protect public health until test results confirm the water is safe to drink.  Because the water quality is unknown at this time, customers are urged to take appropriate precautions.

Test results for bacteriological quality will be completed once we are able to turn off the emergency connection, at which time CCRWC will notify customers regarding the status of the boil water advisory,

If you have any questions concerning this notice, please call the CCRWC office at (843) 623-6090 or SCDHEC at (843) 661-4825.

Town of Pageland

The Town of Pageland is asking, in an abundance of caution, that Pageland water users minimize the use of water until further notice.

Alligator Water Company and Chesterfield County Rural Water Company are experiencing water shortage issues from the weekend low temperatures.

There is also a boil water notice for the Town of Pageland that has been issued, due to Chesterfield County Rural Water’s boil water notice.

Please monitor the Town’s Facebook Page and Town Website for updated information.
