Harrington to have bench trial
The Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office has just announced attorneys for Jejuancey Harrington initiated an agreement with the State to waive his right to a jury trial, conditioned upon the State withdrawing the Notice of Intent to Seek the Death Penalty for the 2017 murders of Ella and Iyana Lowery.
The State agreed Tuesday, Feb. 1, after talking with victims’ family.
The agreement was formally accepted by the Honorable Michael G. Nettles during a hearing in Marion on Feb. 1.
Harrington will now have a bench trial.
Prospective jurors will not need to report to the Marlboro County Courthouse on Feb. 6, which is the date jury selection was scheduled to begin.
More information will be posted to Breaking News as details become available.
