James Davis

GAFFNEY – James “JD” Lacy Davis, 67, of 738 N. Green River Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at White Oak North Grove.

Born in Chesterfield, he was the husband of Lisa Mabry Davis and the son of the late Lacy Leward “Creek” Davis and Betty Irene Eddins Davis. He was a graduate of Clemson University and the former owner/operator of Pride Masonry. Mr. Davis was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and attended Macedonia Baptist Church.

Surviving is a son, Connor Seay of Summerville; three daughters, Abbie Seay of Atlanta, GA, Claire Seay of Conway and Arie Kate Davis of the home; a brother, Tim Davis of Chesterfield; a sister, Kathy Goodale of Timmonsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 3:00PM until 4:00PM on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church. A memorial service immediately followed at 4:00PM at the church with Dr. Terry Duvall and Reverend Bryon McIntyre officiating.

Donnie Lynn Hicks

SOCIETY HILL – Mr. Donnie Lynn Hicks, 52, died on Saturday, February 18, 2023.  Born, August 31, 1970, in Cheraw, SC, he was the son of Johnny Lee and Virginia Parker Hicks.  Donnie worked for 32 years Schaeffler Group in Cheraw, SC.  He was a laid back man, who enjoyed cars, riding, and talking with people.

Donnie leaves behind to cherish his memory, his parents, Johnny Lee Hicks, and Virginia Parker Hicks of Society Hill, SC; daughter, Carmen Garrett and husband, Tyler of Monks Corner, SC; grandson, Rowan Garrett; sister, Darlene James and husband, Paul of Society Hill, SC; and a niece, Selena Chapman and husband, Dusty of Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC. Burial will follow in Welsh Neck Baptist Church Cemetery in Society Hill, SC.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Kiser Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Morrison Frostick

MCBEE – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Morrison Frostick, 96. Mrs. Frostick entered into rest on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A graveside funeral service to honor her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2022 in McBee Cemetery officiated by her grandson, Rev. John Helms. The family will receive immediately following the service at the graveside and other times at 336 N. 9th Street, McBee, SC. Mrs. Frostick was born in Chesterfield County, SC. she was a daughter of the late Daniel A. and Marie Stokes Morrison. She was a member of McBee Baptist Church. She worked for the Town of McBee for over 27 years as the Town Clerk. The family would like to express gratitude to the following caregivers: Betty Canty, Elaine Fitzgerald, Elaine Price, Annie Ruth Hannibel, Gerri King, Tammy Langstrum, Laken King, Alicia Canty, Dot Barret, and Yvette. The family also expresses gratitude to the staff of Crescent Hospice for their loving care. Myrtle Hancock Jordan

MT. CROGHAN – Mrs. Myrtle Hancock Jordan, age 91, entered into rest on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Cross Roads Baptist Church by Max White, Jaimie Gulledge, and Brent Taylor. The family received friends between 2:00 and 3:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service in The Cross Roads Baptist Church Family Life Center. The family will also receive friends at Mrs. Myrtle’s home, 1430 Hwy 268, Mt. Croghan, SC 29727, between 3:00 and 5:00 PM on Wednesday.

Mrs. Jordan was born July 31, 1931 in Mt. Croghan, SC a daughter of the late Robert and Daisy Rollins Hancock. Before retirement, Myrtle was a seamstress and farmer. Mrs. Jordan was a lifelong member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. She had a talent for gardening and making things grow. She also enjoyed fishing and cooking. Above all else, Myrtle loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her dog Mindy.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jordan was also preceded in death by her husband, Everette M. Jordan; siblings, Maro Hancock, Paul Hancock, Durant Hancock, JW Hancock, Fred Hancock, Elbert Hancock, Jeanette Rivers, Kathleen Baker, Grace Hancock, and Billie Jean Knight.

Survivors include her children, Vivian (Billy Joe) Taylor of Mt. Croghan, SC, Sherry (Gary) Chapman of Mt. Croghan, SC, Kaye (Allen) Liner of Bennetsville, SC, Randy Jordan of Mt. Croghan, SC; grandchildren, Chris (Candice) Taylor, Stacy (Richard) Jenkins, Casey (Kristian) Taylor, Danielle Boyd, Lori (Nick) Campbell, Amanda (Kolby) Croxton, and Randal (Dayna) Jordan; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Gulledge of Kannapolis, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucille Griggs Riley

CHERAW – Mrs. Lucille Griggs Riley, age 88, entered into rest on Sunday, February 12, 2023. A Graveside Service was held 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Griggs Cemetery by Pastor John “Bootsie” Griggs. The family greeted friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. Riley was born August 27, 1934 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late John Griggs and Mary Griggs Davis. She retired from Delta Mills where she worked for many years as an inspector. Lucille was a meek and humble woman who would always put others first. Mrs. Riley enjoyed growing flowers and socializing with her friends from the “red hat club”.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Riley was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Riley; daughter, Deborah Riley; sisters, Hazel Griggs, and Susie O’Neal.

Survivors include her children, Mike (Linda) Riley of Cheraw, SC, John (Donna) Riley of Lancaster, SC, Rex (Mindy) Riley of St. Louis, MZ; grandchildren, Josh (Vonda) Riley, Matt (Sabrina) Riley, Scott Riley, Kevin (Anna) Riley, Michael (Becky) Tyner, Chris Tyner; great-grandchildren, Chloe Tyner, Bailey Tyner, Dylan Tyner, Rebecca Hudson, Charles Riley, Colt Riley, Case Riley, Justin Riley, Logan Riley, Caroline Riley, Waylon Riley, Addison Riley, Noah Riley; brother, John (Judy) Griggs of Greenville, SC; grandchildren of the heart, Joe and Kinslee Huggins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack Bartholomew Thompson

CHERAW – Mr. Jack Bartholomew Thompson, age 43, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Old St. David’s Cemetery by Brother Ricky Malloy and Deacon Gus Salazar. The family received friends following the service inside the Historic Old St. David’s Church and other times at the home.

Jack was born January 24, 1980 in Cheraw, SC to Doug and Janice Allen Thompson. Jack was a Long-Haul Truck Driver. He was also an avid photographer and enjoyed the outdoors, especially exploring the Rocky Mountains.

Jack was predeceased by his grandparents, Loyd Allen, Mary Thompson Hilliard, and Ward Thompson; and uncle, David Thompson.

Survivors include his parents, Doug & Janice Thompson; grandmother, Madge Allen; great aunt, Doris Campbell, aunts, Cookie Herndon, and Susan Lang; in addition to numerous cousins.
