Selma Jenkins Johnson
JEFFERSON – Mrs. Selma Jenkins Johnson, age 89, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Rocky Creek Presbyterian Church by Rev. Tommy Lee Sexton with burial following in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson was born November 25, 1933 in Jefferson, SC a daughter of the late Julian and Mary Knight Jenkins. Mrs. Selma was a lifelong member of Rocky Creek Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and working in her yards. Selma also grew beautiful flowers and tasty vegetables, as well as researching her genealogy. Selma’s greatest love was for her family and she always showed up to support her children and grandchildren at their activities.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Jenkins; and sister, Delores Jordan.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years Mendel Johnson of the home, sons; Kenny (Shelly) Johnson of Concord, NC, Larry (Lisa) Johnson of Indian Trail, NC; daughter; Lisa (Arnold) Cota of Moncure, NC; grandchildren; Daniel (Lauren) Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Eric (Angelique) Johnson of Jupiter, FL, Amber Johnson of Albemarle, NC, Larry (Elizabeth) Johnson Jr. of Mt. Croghan, SC, Nathan Cota of Raleigh, NC, and Sam Cota of Moncure, NC; great grandchildren; Wyatt Johnson, Clara Johnson, Hayes Johnson, Larry Johnson III, and Mendel Johnson, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Mrs. Johnson’s caregiver’s, Norma Jean Coleman, Carrie Benton, and the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the loving care shown to Mrs. Selma.

Marissa Nicole McQueen
Marissa Nicole McQueen, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and wife passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2023 at the age of 41.
Marissa was born on October 16, 1981 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. She lived in Connecticut before moving to Cheraw, SC in 2011.
Marissa loved her job working with kids at Saint David’s, taking care of her plants and dogs, collecting all things ladybug, and listening to music, especially hip hop and R&B. Her favorite hobby was thrift store shopping; she always loved a good deal!
Marissa’s greatest joy in life was being a mom to her three children, whom she loved fiercely.
Marissa will be remembered for her big laugh, even bigger heart, and her caring and compassionate spirit.
She is survived by those who loved her most including her husband Jamaal McQueen; her children Zada and Zyan Brooks and Layla McQueen; her mother Nadine Loveland; her father Mike Smith; her bonus fathers Kenny Loveland and Rod Dube; her bonus mother Darlene Smith; her sisters Amanda Smith, Jillian Loveland, and Nikki Garzon; her brothers Shane Smith, Benjamin Loveland, and Tommy Guitard; her stepbrothers Alex and Zach Scranton; her grandmothers Corinne Palmer, Irma Guitard, and Irene Smith, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Great Grandma Sally, Great Grandpa Joe, Papa Guitard, Grandpa Dick, and Uncle Jamie.
The family will be celebrating her life privately. In memory of Marissa, express your love and compassion to everyone you meet.

Carlton Lee ‘Tubby’ Roscoe
CHERAW – Carlton Lee “Tubby” Roscoe, 60, died Thursday, May 18, 2023. Born, June 1, 1962, in Cheraw, SC, he was the son of the late Junior and Peggy Deaver Roscoe. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, grilling, and riding his motorcycle. Most of all he loved his children and grandchildren.
Tubby leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters, Victoria Brooke (Jeremy) Mabry, Carley Lynn Roscoe, Mary Catherine Roscoe, Amber Ann Nicole Roscoe all of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Aidan, Kinzey, Tripp, Addison, Keeley, Logan, and J.J.; a brother, Danny (Paula) Roscoe; and a great-grandchild on the way.
Along with his parents listed above, he was preceded in death, by the love of his life, his wife, Mary “Skeeter” Cagle Roscoe, and his sister, Edith Dixon.
A private memorial service will be held.
