Inmate attempts suicide

Officials at the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office said an inmate at the Chesterfield County Detention Center attempted to take her life on Sept. 13.
According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, detention staff performed life-saving measures and called Emergency Medical Services.
The inmate was taken to McLeod Health in Cheraw for further medical assistance.
CCSO notified South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the investigation was turned over to them.
CCSO said no additional information will come from their office due to case being investigated by SLED.
