An Ohio man escaped injury after his truck was engulfed by fire Tuesday evening.
Brian Rice had driven down from Ohio to purchase a truck in South Carolina.
As Rice was traveling back on Highway 151 near the Family Dollar store in McBee, his back passenger tire caught fire.
Rice and two other people tried to extinguish the fire, but it became fully engulfed.
The truck had three gas tanks, each one on fire.

Alligator Rural Fire Department and Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene.
“I was very impressed by the fire response,” said Rice.

“They have done an excellent job.”

He added that Deputy Isaac Shipman of the Sheriff’s Office “did an amazing job controlling traffic.
“And he was so kind and helped keep me calm,” said Rice.
