Streater wins sheriff’s race

Note: All election results are unofficial until certified by the county election commission Thursday, Nov. 10.

With a county-wide turnout of nearly 49 percent, Cambo Streater canvassed 6,891 votes (54.5 percent) to defeat incumbent sheriff James Dixon with 5,751 votes (45.5 percent).

In the contest for State Superintendent of Education, Republican Ellen Weaver gathered 6,830 votes (54.6) to top Democrat Lisa Ellis with 4,952 (39.6).

In all other statewide and state district positions in the county, the incumbents held sway, nearly all of which are GOP. As of today, the statewide results are incomplete.
