Cheraw man faces drugs, weapon charges after barricading self in residence

A Cheraw man was arrested Aug. 4 with various drugs and a pistol.
Charles Rashard Powe, of Goodman Circle in Cheraw, was taken into custody after barricading himself inside the residence.
Sheriff Cambo Streater said Chesterfield County Narcotics and Chesterfield County Special Response Team executed a search warrant operation after receiving information about the possibility of Powe being in possession of stolen firearms.
Powe also had 11 outstanding warrants with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office.
Streater said authorities seized seven grams of crack cocaine, an assortment of pills, marijuana, and a pistol.
In addition to the charges in the warrants, Powe was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine as well as possession of a firearm by a felon.
Streater said the arrest was the result of the dedicated work of the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Chesterfield County Narcotics Unit.
