Man faces charges from sheriff’s office, DNR

The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office has announced a joint operation with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to execute search warrants yesterday on Julius Raymond Loflin Jr. at his residence at 2302 Highway 52 South in Cheraw.

The search came about as part of a year-long investigation in which the SCDNR received information from individuals who said they encountered Loflin posing as a DNR officer. These individuals also told officers with DNR that Loflin had alligators buried on his property that were untagged.

During the execution of the search warrant, alligator parts were recovered from behind Loflin’s residence, along with some other stolen property and drugs that were found inside his home.

Loflin is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Detention Center on several charges from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources asks anyone who has come into contact with Loflin to contact SCDNR Dispatch at (800) 922-5431 or the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 623-2101.
