County council passes face covering requirement
Effective midnight Nov. 18, most people entering restaurants and other retail establishments in the unincorporated areas of the county will be required to wear face coverings, according to an emergency resolution passed by Chesterfield County Council on Nov 4. The measure was enacted to stem the spread of COVID-19.
Children under the age of 10, people with underlying medical conditions and diners partaking of food and drink are exempt from this requirement, which expires 60 days (Jan. 17) after its enactment.
A person who is found in violation of this resolution may be subject to a fine of $25 for each occurrence.
