McBee man in Navy flyover at Army-Navy game
United States Navy Lt. j.g. Thomas Watkins Hobgood III, a 2012 graduate of McBee High School, who earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Clemson University in 2016, is participating in the Navy flyover at the Army-Navy football game this Saturday, Dec. 12.
A Naval Flight Officer, Hobgood will be in the back seat of a supersonic F/A 18F Super Hornet strike fighter aircraft. As an NFO, his primary duties include airborne weapons, sensor systems and communications while the aviator in the front seat flies the aircraft.
The 121st match-up of the Army-Navy game will be played at West Point, N.Y., and will be televised on CBS beginning at 3 p.m. Six AH-64 Apache helicopters of the U.S. Army are scheduled to conduct their flyover at 3:05:30 p.m., followed by the Navy flyover of four aircraft at 3:06:15 pm.
