County Council declares Second Amendment sanctuary
Chesterfield County Council unanimously passed a resolution supporting Second Amendment sanctuary rights during its April 7 meeting.
The resolution expresses council’s strong and unequivocal support of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which states, “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Council also expressed its concerns, to wit, “The legislative assemblies of several states have begun adopting measures regarding gun control, and it is expected these proposed measures, which will greatly encroach on the constitutional rights of those citizens affected, and will be introduced in the aforementioned states as part of their 2020-2021 legislative sessions.”
