SCDOT seeks public comment on bridge projects

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking public comments concerning the bridge projects identified as part of the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Closed and Load Restricted Bridge Program to be included in the 2021-27 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. During its Jan. 27 meeting the SCDOT Commission approved that comment period for the proposed bridge projects, which includes five projects impacting Chesterfield County.

Those five projects are SC 265 crossing the Lynches River into Lancaster County, Outen Road crossing Brown Creek 2.4 miles north of Pageland, U.S. 1/SC 9 crossing the Pee Dee River into Marlboro County, U.S. 1/SC 9 crossing the Pee Dee Overflow #1 0.5 miles NE of Cheraw and U.S. 1/SC 9 Pee Dee Overflow #2 one-mile NE of Cheraw.

The public may comment on the action to amend the STIP to include the preliminary engineering, right of way and construction phases of work in FY2022. SCDOT will receive public comment until the close of business Feb. 21.

Comments should be forwarded to Viola Covington, Public Involvement Manager, SCDOT Office of Planning, P.O. Box 191, Columbia, S.C. 29202 or covingtovf@scdot.org.
