Shooting in Cheraw

There has been a shooting incident in Cheraw, and all schools are on lockdown.

Interim Cheraw Police Chief Julius Riley issued a statement to WCRE and The Link:

“The police department does not expect any problems at the schools.  The schools were put on lockdown as a routine precaution.”

Interim Chief Riley asks the public to bear with the police department a little while longer.  The CPD expects to have the area secure in the next hour or so, and the schools can resume normal activities.

The Cheraw Police Department is looking for a Black male, medium complexion, late 20s to early 30s.

He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap with writing on the front, a black shirt with a logo on it, black Adidas jogging pants with three stripes down the legs, red shoes and two gold necklaces.

He was last seen crossing the parking lot behind Pizza Hut going in the direction of West Pine apartments.  He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who sees him should not approach him but call 911 or the Cheraw police department (843) 537-7868 or (843) 910-1342.
