Bedford captured
The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office has announced Emanuel Auromond Bedford was taken into custody this morning about 1:35 a.m. after having escaped from the Chesterfield County Detention Center about 9:42 p.m. Saturday night.
An additional charge of escape was added to Bedford’s prior charges of murder and kidnapping.
Sheriff Cambo Streater said more than 20 CSSO deputies, along with officers from the Chesterfield Police Department, the State Law Enforcement Division and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, in addition to tracking dogs and a helicopter took part in the search and apprehension of Bedford.
“I personally appreciate everyone’s help,” said Streater. “I am very proud of how everyone came out. As soon as they heard what happened, they came out. We didn’t have to call them.”
In internal investigation is being conducted to determine how Bedford escaped from the detention center.
