Driver dies in single-vehicle wreck near Cheraw

A person was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Cheraw early Monday morning.

According to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the S.C. Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at approximately 12:25 a.m. on Market Street Extension, 3.8 miles west of Cheraw.

A 2008 Honda sedan with two occupants was traveling east on Market Street Extension when it traveled off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, and overturned.

Bolt said the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was injured and transported by EMS to an area hospital.

“This collision remains an investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol,” said Bolt.
