Woman, child safe after kidnapping
Officials with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office said a woman and her eight-year-old are safe after being kidnapped on Tuesday, May 28.
According to Sheriff Cambo Streater, his office was notified that a female and her eight-year-old son were taken by force from the residence where they were staying in the Jefferson area of the county.
Streater said after approximately eight hours, both victims were located by Chesterfield County deputies.
The adult female was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and her son was not injured.
Officials said two people have been charged, and additional arrests are anticipated.
With the case still under investigation, the names are not being released at this time.
Streater commended the deputies’ fast action and hard work in responding to this very serious event.
He also thanked the State Law Enforcement Division, the Union County North Carolina Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Natural Resources for their support and assistance with the case.
