The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit has made several arrests in multiple fentanyl cases.
Sheriff Cambo Streater said Kenneth Taylor, Claude Sikes, Brandy Mayhew, and Mark Ossmann were the targets of a fentanyl case.
In this case, several hundred tablets of press fentanyl pills were seized before being distributed into the community.
Streater added the Narcotics Unit investigated the illegal distribution of fentanyl by Talvin Robinson and brought Robinson into custody, which led to the seizure of several grams of fentanyl.
Another case resulted in the arrests of Cody Gwin and Jessica Gwin for selling fentanyl in the county and several grams of the drug seized.
Streater reminded the citizens of the dangers of fentanyl, which is an opioid drug used for pain management.
Fentanyl can come in several different forms and colors.
He noted fentanyl found in the county has been combined with Xylazine, which is a veterinary drug used most commonly in horses and cattle for sedation and anesthesia.
He added that both drugs can be absorbed through skin contact, and both are commonly found in powder form, having the potential to enter the body from particles being breathed in.
“Narcan is ineffective against Xylazine as it is not an opioid drug,” he said.
Officials urge anyone believed to have ingested or been exposed to either substance should seek immediate medical attention.
