A Chesterfield County Sheriff deputy noticing something suspicious led to the arrest of two people from Hartsville and a man from McBee on Aug. 10.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater said a deputy from the Chesterfield County Narcotics Unit was patrolling Winburn Lake Road
near McBee.
While traveling down Tabernacle Church Road, Streater said the deputy noticed a blue Nissan Sentra suddenly pull over.
The deputy observed the driver and passenger exchanging seats, which raised his suspicions.
Streater said it led the deputy to initiate a lawful traffic stop to assess the situation.
Upon further investigation, authorities discovered methamphetamines within the vehicle.
Streater said it led to the arrest
s of Carey L. Capps of Hartsville, Robert S. VanHorn Jr. of Hartsville, and Dustin E. Gainey of McBee.
The three were charged with possession with intent to distribute. Streater said Gainey was found to have outstanding warrants with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office.
“The ongoing strategies are aimed at addressing drug issues in Chesterfield County and yielding positive results for our community,” he said.
Anyone with information about drug activity in the county is asked to contact the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office tip line at (843) 287-0235.

Im curious what did changing seats do to cause such suspicion there has got to be more because changing seats isn’t illegal im glad they got caught but it’s also alarming that people get pulled over these days for switching seats

How is it suspicious, to switch drivers? To stop somebody for switching drivers isn’t articulating a crime. This doesn’t make sense, there has to be more to the story. Like consent to search or something
