McBee Police officer recovers after Thursday shooting

The McBee Police officer shot during a traffic stop on Thursday night (Sept. 19) is at home and recovering.
“We are
proud of the officer,” said McBee Mayor Glenn Odom. “We feel like it was the Lord’s hand that protected him, and we are very thankful.”
Odom said the officer was shot three times.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) issued a statewide Blue Alert for Alston Modlin, 27, after the McBee Police officer was shot during a traffic stop on 11th Street in McBee.
A standoff occurred in Darlington County between Modlin and law enforcement earlier on Friday.

SLED officials
have not released any details.
