SLED issues Blue Alert for suspect in McBee Police officer shooting
South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has issued a statewide Blue Alert for Alston Modlin, 27, after a McBee Police officer was shot late Thursday night.
The shooting occurred during a traffic stop on 11th Street in McBee.
Modlin may be driving a 2023 Toyota Tacoma with SC license plate KRF577. The vehicle has a LEER sticker on the back window and was last seen traveling West at 6:01 a.m. in Florence.
SLED is investigating the shooting, and officials said the officer is in an area hospital receiving treatment.
The SLED investigation was requested early Friday morning by the McBee Police Department.
SLED officials said it is an active and ongoing investigation.
SLED is asking anyone with information to call 911 immediately and Modlin may be armed and dangerous.
