The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged three people in the shooting death of Jonathan Alexander Williams on Sunday, Feb. 16 in the Cash community.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater said 20-year-old Christopher Shane Hatcher, 17-year-old Gage James Lee Starling, and 19-year-old Charles Wayne Williams III.
Hatcher is charged with murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling while Starling and Charles Williams III were both charged with accessory before and after the fact of murder. Starling is being charged as an adult.
Deputies responded to a call Sunday night and found Jonathan Alexander Williams was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the yard of a home in the Cash community.
Streater said residents at the home and neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area around 7:30 p.m.
However, according to Streater, no one thought this was unusual because it happens frequently in the neighborhood.
Jonathan Williams’ body was discovered when a resident left the home to go to work.
The S.C. Law Enforcement Division Crime Scene Unit arrived and processed the scene where 24 spent shell casings and five bullet holes in the side of the house were discovered.
“This investigation is ongoing,” said Streater.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the CCSO at (843) 623-2101.
