The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is leading the investigation of a shooting on Friday, July 18, at the Pageland Watermelon Festival.
According to Pageland Police Chief Dean Short, the shooting resulted in the death of a 17-year-old juvenile.
“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the young individual whose life was tragically lost,” said Short in a news release. “This is a heartbreaking event that deeply impacts our entire community.”
Town of Pageland officials announced that all events and activities scheduled for the Pageland Watermelon Festival have been cancelled.
Officials posted on the town’s social media in a statement:  “With deep sadness, we announce that all remaining events for the Watermelon Festival have been canceled in light of Friday night’s tragic incident. Out of respect for the victim and their family, we believe this is the most appropriate course of action. Our hearts and prayers are with all those affected by this senseless act of violence. We thank our community for their understanding, and we ask everyone to continue supporting one another during this difficult time.”

This is nothing new in chesterfield county, the corrupt and inept Mayberry squad can investigate a kid in school with a vape quite extensively to get to the bottom of that crime but have not been able to come up with a single clue when a child is gunned down.
