Chesterfield County detention officer charged with misconduct in office

A detention officer at the Chesterfield County Detention Center has been charged and terminated following an internal investigation into inappropriate conduct.
According to Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater, the incident occurred on Saturday, August 16, when the officer displayed an indecent photograph of himself to an inmate inside the detention center. The matter was reported to a supervisor two days later.
Kenneth Goforth, 32, was brought in for questioning on Tuesday, Aug. 19, and charged with misconduct in office. He was terminated from the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
“The actions of one individual do not reflect the integrity or professionalism of the men and women of the Chesterfield County Detention Center,” said Streater.
Officials have stated that no further details will be released.
