CCSO is investigating fatal shooting of a nine-year-old

A shooting incident near Pageland has claimed the life of a nine-year-old child early Sunday, Sept. 28.
According to Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater, deputies responded to a shooting incident at a convenience store parking lot along Highway 9 in Pageland.
Once on scene, officials discovered the incident resulted in the death of a nine-year-old child from the Pageland area of Chesterfield County.
Several individuals have been detained and are being interviewed at the Sheriff’s Office, along with witnesses.
Streater said the investigation remains active and ongoing and assured citizens that there was no current danger to the community.
As the investigation progresses, additional details will be released.
The CCSO extended its gratitude to the Pageland Police Department, McBee Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s Crime Scene Unit, and the SLED Child Fatality Unit for their assistance.
