CCSO seeks suspect in homicide investigation

Jeremiah J. Lockhart
The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 17‑year‑old Pageland resident wanted in the shooting death of another juvenile on Saturday, March 28.
According to Sheriff Cambo Streater, Jeremiah J. Lockhart is being sought in connection with the March 28 shooting death of a 17‑year‑old victim.
The sheriff’s office responded to a call for service in the area of North Pearl Street, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
Streater said the teen was transported to Atrium Health in Monroe, North Carolina, where he later died.
Investigators later determined the shooting did not occur on North Pearl Street but at a separate location off CW Baker Circle involving multiple individuals. Through interviews and evidence gathered at the scene, deputies identified Lockhart as the person responsible for the shooting.
Streater said Lockhart is wanted on a charge of murder. Although Lockhart is a minor, due to the nature of the charge, he will be charged as an adult under South Carolina law.
“This is a tragic case involving the loss of a young life,” said Streater. “We are committed to bringing the individual responsible to justice and ask the public to assist us by sharing any information they may have.”
This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are forthcoming.
Anyone with information on Lockhart’s whereabouts is asked to contact Chesterfield County E‑911 at 843‑623‑6838, the sheriff’s office at (843) 623‑2101, or the tip line at (843) 287‑0235. Tips may also be submitted by messaging the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook.
