Alexander, Price to present joint organ recital Sunday

Two local seniors will showcase years of musical study during a joint senior organ recital on Sunday, July 26, at First Presbyterian Church in Cheraw.
Jackson Alexander and Watson Price will present the free recital beginning at 3 p.m. at the church, located at 300 Market St. The performance is open to the public, and a reception will follow in the fellowship building.
Church officials said the recital marks an important milestone for both students as they prepare to continue their musical education at the collegiate level this fall.
Alexander will attend Clemson University, where he will study organ with Dr.
Linda Dzuris, who is traveling to Cheraw to hear his future student perform. Dzuris is the chair of the Department of Performing Arts, professor of music, and university carillonneur.
Price will attend Campbell University, where he will study piano with Dr.
Hexin Qiao, who will also be in attendance for the recital. Qiao is an assistant professor of music.
The program will feature a
selection of classical works that reflect the students’ dedication and musical growth.
Audience members can expect performances of pieces by renowned composers including Johann Sebastian Bach, Claude Debussy, Frédéric Chopin, Boëllmann, and Healey Willan, among others.
