Cathy McLendon Adams

CHERAW – Cathy McLendon Adams, 71, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Born, December 9, 1953, in Bennettsville, SC she was the daughter of the late Sam and Sara Louise Quick McLendon.

Cathy was an active member of Westside Baptist Church and had a deep passion for reading. She also found joy in playing word games, shopping, and tending to her meticulously maintained yard, reflecting her vibrant personality and attention to detail.

Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, of 43 years, Lewis “Bud” Adams; brothers, Tony McLendon and Larry McLendon.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Lynn Crolley (Philip) of Lugoff, SC; a granddaughter, Cassidy Crolley of Columbia, SC; nieces, Karen Boan and Elaine Boan both of Cheraw, SC; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.

The family received friends following the service at the Cemetery on Friday.

Susan Hunter

CHERAW – Susan Denise Hunter, 55, died December 24, 2024. Born in Chesterfield, SC she was the daughter of Garry (Jane) Hunter of Cheraw, SC and the late Judy Curry. Susan enjoyed family gatherings, going to church, listening to music and watching Dancing With The Stars.

Surviving is her father listed above, brothers, Colby (Robin) Hunter of Hartsville, SC, Brock (Dawn) Ellis of Kings Mountain, NC, Rich (Heather) Melton of Blacksburg, SC, grandmother, Dovie Hunter of Cheraw, SC, Aunt, Debbie (Joe) Byrd of Hartsville, SC, cousin, James Curry of Hartsville, SC.

She was preceded in death by her mother listed above, grandparents, Harold Hunter, JC and Katie Curry, uncles, James Curry and Reg Hunter.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2024, in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw, SC. The family received friends following the service.

Betty Lucille Shaw

CHESTERFIELD – Betty Lucille “Susie” Shaw, 95, died Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Born in Marlboro County and was the daughter of the late Henry Allen and Betty Elizabeth Quick Shaw. She was the widow of James Wesley McDonald, Sr. She enjoyed cutting grass, gardening, picking cotton and doing outdoor activities. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and her fur baby, Jasmine.

Surviving are her sons, Charles (Marie) Shaw of Cheraw, SC, Jack McDonald of Jacksonville, FL, daughters, Pagen Freeman (Oscor) McLaughlin of Cheraw, SC, Barbara (Tommie) Radford of Camden, SC, Debbie (Curtis) Campbell of Cheraw, SC, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above, a daughter, Sandra Shaw, grandchildren, Scott Freeman, Thomas Creech, a great-grandchild, Pagen Elizabeth Freeman, brothers, James Shaw, Willy Shaw, Murley Shaw, Franklin Shaw and Buster Shaw.

The family received friends beginning at 3:00 PM, Friday, December 27, 2024 at 37 Vaughn Lane, Chesterfield, SC.

A funeral service was held 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Society Hill Church of God, Society Hill, SC. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Humane Society of Marlboro County, 242 Ag Street, Bennettsville, SC 29512. OR Crescent Hospice, 1039 Cheraw Street, Bennettsville, SC 29512.

Mrs. Shaw’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving concern and excellent care given to their mother by Crescent Hospice.

John “Johnny” Edward Williamson

CHERAW – John “Johnny” Edward Williamson, aged 61, passed away on December 27, 2024. Born in Marlboro County, he was the beloved son of Betty Starling and the late Ravelnel Williamson. Johnny was a passionate sports enthusiast, finding joy in watching football and baseball games, as well as NASCAR events. His lighthearted nature and sense of humor brought joy to those around him. He had a particular fondness for horror movies, particularly those directed by Rob Zombie. Above all, Johnny cherished the time spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured by all.

Johnny is survived by his mother, Betty Starling; his sisters, Cindy Ingram of Cheraw, SC, Deanna Skidmore of Cornelius, NC, and Pamela McClure of North Myrtle Beach, SC; his beloved nieces and nephews, Kyle (Lacey) Lewis, Jessica (Dola) Holt, Trevor (Debra) Ingram, Kelsey Skidmore, Nichlos Peele, Lindsey Peele, and Hannah McClure; as well as his great nieces and nephews, Adalyn, Kyra, Landen, Laken, Finley, Hadley, Hendrix, Amelia, Drew, and Aiden.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ravelnel Williamson.

Johnny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
