Chastity Monroe Davis
CHERAW — Mrs. Chastity Monroe Davis, age 52, entered into rest on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at her home. A celebration of life service is being planned for a later date.
Mrs. Davis was born September 4, 1973 in Chesterfield, SC the daughter of Nina Davidson Fowler-Frazier. Her biological father was RB Monroe. Chastity had the heart of a fighter, overcoming cancer four times beginning at the age of three. Through every challenge and trial she faced, her extraordinary faith carried her forward and gave her strength. Chastity was a true people person who cherished building meaningful connections with those around her. She enjoyed getting lost in a good book, indulging in a little retail therapy to unwind, and spending time fishing. An animal lover at heart, she cared deeply for her own pets and even looked after the neighborhood cats.
Above all else, Chastity loved her family. She shared a special bond with her mother and never hesitated to tell her what to do, often bringing laughter to those around them. Of all her accomplishments in life, motherhood was by far her greatest joy and proudest achievement.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by the daddy of her youth, Ronald Fowler; father of her adult years, John L. Frazier, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Charles B. and Catherine J. Davidson; paternal grandfather, B.F. Monroe, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Mamie Quick; and uncle, Chales W. Davidson.
Survivors include her husband, Mitchell Davis of Cheraw, SC; son, Tyson James Davis of Cheraw, SC; mother, Nina Fowler-Frazier of Cheraw, SC; biological father, R.B. Monroe; siblings, Lexi Haithcock, Franklin Clark Pruitt, and J.W. Pruitt, Jr. all of Myrtle Beach, SC; aunt, Sharon McIntire; uncles, Dr. Francis J. Murray, Alford Quick; and fur babies, Shu-Shu, Moe the squirrel, and numerous cats and dogs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org); or to the Sarcoma Foundation of America (https://curesarcoma.org/?form=CancerPrevention).

Bernice E. Gurney
CHERAW — Bernice E. Gurney, 92, passed away on Thursday May 28, 2026. Born, December 24, 1933, in Baltimore, MD she was a daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Hudson Reichelt.
Bernice dedicated many years to managing the Kenwood Bingo Hall in Baltimore, MD. Known for her active yet simple nature, she cherished her family deeply and found joy in caring for them and spending quality time together. She especially enjoyed attending family reunions with her siblings.
Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Albert Gurney; her brothers, Edward Reichelt and Dennis Reichelt; her sisters, Mildred Engers, Lois Jones, and Patricia Wosyluk; and former daughter-in-law, Theresa Gurney.
Bernice leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Donald Gurney and wife, Carole of Berlin, MD; her daughter, Denise Boggs and husband, Don of Conway, SC; sisters, Joyce DeThomas of Severn, MD and Sharon Smith of Sammamish, WA; grandchildren, Jessica Freeman and husband, Jim, Brandon Gurney and wife, Lauren, Loren Heaps, and Bobby Heaps and wife, Landry; great-grandchildren, Luke and wife Destiny, Jake, Kenzie, Simon, Kristi, Eli, Grayson, Graham, Addison and Makenzie; and great-great grandchild, Lila.
At the request of Mrs. Gurney, no formal services will be held in Cheraw, SC, the family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later time in Maryland.

Donald Eugene ‘Gene’ Parker
HARTSVILLE — Donald Eugene “Gene” Parker, 59, went to rest on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Hartsville, South Carolina.
Born October 11, 1966, to George “Bogan” Parker and Frances Ann Bryant Parker in Cheraw, South Carolina, Gene was the youngest and most beloved of his family. He is preceded in death by both parents, his brother George Parker, and Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Parker Noel.
Gene is survived by his two daughters Kaitlyn Parker and Morgan Berry (Joseph), along with his grandchildren Gianna Lowery and Collin Lowery, all of which he loved dearly. He was loved and cared for by many people from his life including Nicola Chapman (Scott) and Dianne Brown, his nieces Michael “Mica” Dowdy (Travis) and Jade Johnson (David), and lifelong friends and loved ones including Joe Cox among others.
Dedicated to providing for those he cared for and his community, Gene worked a number of years at Honda, Mar-Mac, and Alstrom where he was given the opportunity to impact the people he worked with as well as travel the world including trips to Japan on behalf of the company.
Throughout his life there were few things he cared about and bragged on more than his family and his Carolina Gamecocks. That is until he became a Grandpappy to his grandchildren who quickly became the light of his life.
Friends and family were invited to attend a visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a charity of one’s choice.
The family also thanks his care team in his final days including the Intensive Care Unit at Carolina Pines Hospital.
