Assault and kidnapping

The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about an assault and kidnapping that occurred around 2 p.m. this afternoon on Jackson Road East outside of Chesterfield.

A female reported she was walking to check her mailbox around 2 p.m. when a tan and gold colored SUV stopped in the middle of the road, and a white male wearing a black coat, toboggan and one black glove got out of the vehicle and punched her multiple times in the head. The man, who was around 6-foot-2 inches tall, then grabbed the victim’s 1-year-old child and sped away in the SUV.

The victim said she’s never seen the suspect before. Anyone with information about the assault or the kidnapping is asked to contact the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 623-2101.

The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are also assisting in the investigation.

More details will be posted to Breaking News as information becomes available.
