Update on shooting death investigation

Chesterfield County Coroner Kip Kiser has identified the victim of the fatal shooting that occurred last night on Smithfield Church Road as 18-year-old Sedrick Covington of Bennettsville. Kiser stated an autopsy has been ordered on Covington.

Investigators with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office are looking for 22-year-old Shyheem Loranzo Ingram, a black male from Cheraw.

Chesterfield County Sheriff James “JD” Dixon stated there has been an ongoing feud between Ingram and Covington, but at this point in the investigation, a clear motive for this incident has not been determined.
