Julius ‘Ronnie’ Deronda Graham Jr.

CHERAW – Mr. Julius “Ronnie” Deronda Graham, Jr., 60, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Born, October 21, 1961, in Cheraw, SC, he was a son of Barbara Kimrey Graham and the late Julius Deronda Graham, Sr. Ronnie served his country proudly in the United States Navy and worked in the construction industry.  He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.  He enjoyed working, fishing, and going to the beach in Florida.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his dad, Julius “Ron” Deronda Graham, Sr.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 33 years, Valerie Jordan Graham of the home; a son, Julius “Alex” Graham of Cheraw, SC; a daughter, Brittany Graham of Cheraw, SC; his mother, Barbara Kimrey Graham of Cheraw, SC; his step-mother, Beverly Graham of St. Petersburg, FL; a brother, Anthony “Tony” Graham and wife, Branda of Darlington, SC; a sister, Sherri G. Norris and husband, Melvin of Darlington, SC; and three grandchildren, Nathan Gainey, Julius Graham, and Alexis Sloan.

Samuel ‘Sam’ Robert Griggs

SENECA – Samuel “Sam” Robert Griggs, infant son of Charles and Caitlyn Griggs was born and passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021.

Gone from this world too soon, Samuel leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving parents, Charles Robert and Caitlyn Purvis Griggs of the home; his maternal grandparents, Robert F. and Renee P. Hatcher of Wallace, SC; and his paternal great-grandmother, Brenda Dennis of Wallace, SC.

A graveside funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wallace, SC.  The family received friends following the service at the cemetery.

Helen J. Jordan

PAGELAND – Mrs. Helen J. Jordan, age 81, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Kyle Oliver and Pastor Harold Cooke. The family greeted friends immediately following the service at the cemetery and between the hours of 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Friday, and 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday at the home of Owen Gulledge, 3881 Airport Road, Pageland, SC.

Friends could visit Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home between the hours of 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM Saturday to view and pay their respects.

Mrs. Jordan was born March 1, 1940 in Pageland, SC a daughter of the late Rufus Lee and Arlevia Sutton Jordan. She was a graduate of Pageland High School, a retired employee of Aviagen, and a former employee of Chesterfield Hosiery Mill. Helen was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school secretary, choir member, and W.M.U. member. She had a passion for the church youth and enjoyed cooking for J.A.M. (Jesus and Me.) Helen was a delicious cook and was known for her chocolate pies and zucchini bread. She was in charge of making the sweet tea for each church social and was always prepared. She also enjoyed working in her yards and spending time with her beloved pets.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jordan was also preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Mitchell Jordan.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet C. Jordan of Pageland, SC; “Adopted Grandchildren,” Owen P. Gulledge, and Abigail V. Gulledge; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Gerald & Sue Jordan of Mt. Croghan, SC, and Robert & Rachel Jordan of Chesterfield, SC.

Mary L. Jordan

CHERAW – Mrs. Mary L. Jordan, 75, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021. Born, April 15, 1946, in Hartsville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Bogan and Agnes Jones Hall and the widow of Otis Jordan. She was a member of Cheraw Family Worship Center, where she served in the Women’s Ministries, on the Church Board and sang with the Worship Team.

Surviving are her sons, William (Amy) Jordan of High Point, NC, Wayne Jordan of Cheraw, SC, grandchildren Sarah Elizabeth Jordan, Matthew Jordan, Madison Jordan, Noah Rafaele, brothers, Jim (Linda) Hall, of Society Hill, SC, Henry Hall, of Lydia, SC, Freddy (Kay) Hall of Byrdtown, SC, Larry Hall, of Hartsville, SC, and Michael (Michelle) Hall, of Hartsville, SC, sisters, Susan (Mickey) Caulder, of Florence, SC, Diane (Paul) Miller, of Florence, SC, sisters-in-law, Rachel (Richard) Brower, of Monroe, NC, Barbara Jordan, of Topeka KS,  nieces and nephews

Mary enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, crossword puzzles, Hallmark movies and loved taking care of her four-legged friend, Lily.

She most enjoyed her time serving others through various church activities!
The family received friends 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 just prior to the service at Cheraw Family Worship Center, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Cheraw, Family Worship Center, SC.

Betty Eubanks McLean

MT. CROGHAN – Mrs. Betty Eubanks McLean, age 86, entered into rest on Sunday, August 22, 2021. Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Fork Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery by Brent Taylor. The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. McLean was born August 7, 1935 in Pamplico, SC, a daughter of the late Herman Henry and Crista Bell Kirkley Eubanks. Betty was a member of Fork Creek United Methodist Church and retired from Celanease in Rock Hill with 27 years of service. A member of the Order of Eastern Star-Catawba 131, Betty enjoyed attending baseball games with her family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Gary McLean; brothers, Tom Eubanks and Jim Eubanks; and sisters, Mildred Grove, Kathleen Oates, and Ann Howery.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda (Monty) Floyd of Mt. Croghan, SC; grandsons, Andy (Ashley) Smith, J.R. Floyd, and their children, Kye Smith, Kade Smith, Bentley Floyd, and Brooklyn Floyd, all of the home; granddaughters, Cynthia McKoy and Wendy Floyd of Fayetteville, NC; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Betty Jane Drake McNeal

CHERAW – Betty Jane Drake McNeal, 74, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021.  Funeral service was held, Sunday, August 22, 2021, at 3PM from the Fisher Hill Community Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the FHCBC J.C. Broome Memorial Cemetery, Cheraw, SC. She was born June 16, 1947, in Cheraw, SC to the late Ervin Drake, Sr. and Bertha McDonald Drake. Survivors: sisters, Bernice Baskin, Verlee Jackson, Josephine McQueen (Robert), Gladys Broome-Smith and Berthel Morrell (Brady) of Cheraw, SC; brothers, Warren E. Drake (Julia) and Ervin Drake, Jr. (Della) of Cheraw, SC; niece, Carolyn Boykin of the home; nephews of the home, Kelvin Drake, Columbus, GA and James Geter, Pennsylvania; host of nieces and nephews. Steven Ray

Chesterfield – Mr. Steven Ray, age 74, entered into rest on Friday, August 27, 2021. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Brent Taylor with burial following in the First Southern Methodist Church Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Ray was born September 1, 1946 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Marion and Becky Kuhn Ray. He was a long-time employee of Bell Atlantic. Ray was a man with a creative streak who enjoyed building things. He also enjoyed relaxing with a fishing pole or golf club in his hand.

Survivors include his wife, Lee Ray of the home; Children, Richard Ray of Chesterfield, SC, Matthew Ray of Myrtle Beach, SC, Anna Ray of Chesterfield, SC; grandson, Dustin Ray of Maryville, TN, brother, Rodney (Ruth Ann) Ray of Maryville, TN; and sister, Vicky (Charlie) Buell of Barbersville, WV.
