Carolyn Drake Boykin

CHERAW – Carolyn Drake Boykin, 64, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Funeral service was held, Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 3PM from the Fisher Hill Community Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the J.C. Broome Memorial Garden. She was born April 3, 1957, in Cheraw, SC to the late Mary Ruth Drake Geter and Theodore King. Carolyn was raised by her maternal grandparents, Mr. Ervin Drake, Sr. and Bertha McDonald Drake. Survivors: two brothers, Mr. Kelvin Drake of Columbus GA and Master Sargeant James E. Geter, Kuwait; five sisters/aunts Ms. Bernice Baskin, Ms. Verlee Jackson, Ms. Josephine McQueen (Robert), Rev. Dr. Gladys Broome-Smith and Mrs. Berthel Morrell (Brady); two brothers/uncles, Mr. Warren E. Drake (Julia) and Mr. Ervin Drake (Della) of Cheraw, SC. Jerry B. Leach

CHERAW – Mr. Jerry B. Leach, 84, died on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Born, February 24, 1937, in Cheraw, SC, he was a son of the late Edward Mobley Sill and Ruth Elizabeth Bottoms Jones.  Jerry was the owner/operator of Jerry B. Leach Company and Riverside Pumps in Cheraw for over fifty years and served his country proudly for four years in the United States Army National Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, SC and was the Chesterfield County Gamecock Club President for over 20 years, and he also served on the Executive Athletic Board of the University of South Carolina. Jerry loved to golf and attend Carolina football games.

Along with his parents, listed above, Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean Abbott Leach; a brother, Edward Sill; and sisters, Patsy (Bill) Roof, and Sue Turner.

Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory, a son, Jay (Dawn) Leach of Cheraw, SC; a daughter, Vicki Leach of West Columbia, SC; a brother, John (Cile) Sill of Pinehurst, NC; sisters, Ann Jones of Dillion, SC, Penny (Jamie) Spell of Santee, SC and a sister-in-law, Linda Sill of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren, Jason and Hannah Leach, both of Columbia, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Old Saint David’s Cemetery in Cheraw, SC.

Henry David “Little David’ Pigg III

PAGELAND – Mr. Henry David “Little David” Pigg, III, age 44, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at his home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Carl Ritter, II, Rev. Jason Love, and his father, David Pigg, Jr. with burial following in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends immediately following the service of committal in Zion Hall.

Mr. Pigg was born April 25, 1977 in Charlotte, NC a son of Henry David Pigg, Jr. and Brenda Moore Pigg. He was a 1995 graduate of Central High School and attended Winthrop University. In high school, David played baseball and football, and competed his senior year in the Eagles football championship game. He was an employee of Carolina Fresh Foods of Florence, SC and a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

An avid outdoorsman, Little David enjoyed hunting, fishing, and following all sports. He will always be remembered for his contagious personality and sensitive heart to everyone. David was always seeking ways to help others and was a true neighbor to everyone in his community.

Mr. Pigg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry David & Jessie M. Pigg, Sr., and Earl & Marie Moore all of Pageland, SC; cousin, Justine “Tina” Catoe; and infant cousin, Sarah Ashley Rollings.

Survivors include his loving parents, David & Brenda Pigg of Jefferson, SC; sister, Bredae Graves of Greenville, SC; nephew, Daniel Graves of Florence, SC; niece, Molly Bess Graves of Greenville, SC; girlfriend, Lisa Vick of Pageland, SC; beloved aunts & uncles, Louella (Joe) Catoe of Pageland, SC, Jane (Dwight) Johnson of Jefferson, SC, Mary Beth Smith of Pageland, SC, Larry (Kay) Moore of Columbia, SC, and Robin (Buddy) Jones of Pageland, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Joseph Cain Smith

Mt. CROGHAN – Mr. Joseph Cain Smith, age 36, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 25, 2021 at his home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Randall Dockery with burial following in the McBee Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born February 25, 1985 in Augusta, GA, a son of Jodi Cain Hancock and the late Jeffrey Stephen Smith, Sr. A graduate of Westside High School in Augusta, Georgia, Joseph also graduated with honors from Augusta Tech with 3 welding degrees. An avid outdoorsman, Joseph loved to hunt, fish, ride four-wheelers, and hang out with his friends. Joseph will be remembered as a kind-hearted man, who loved to make people laugh and was always fun to be around. Joseph loved cats and enjoyed working in restaurants. He loved God and enjoyed reading through his bible twice. Above all else, Joseph loved his momma dearly.

In addition to his father, Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by his grandfather, Herman Cain Sr.; grandparents, Bill Smith and Peggy Bellamy; and uncles, Earl Cain and Bart Cain.

Survivors include his mother; Jodi Smith Hancock and her husband Donnie Hancock of Augusta, GA; brother, Jeffrey Stephen Smith Jr. of Augusta, GA; grandmother, Joanne Cain of Augusta, GA; step-brother, Heath Hancock of Atlanta, GA; step-sister, Carly (Matt) Dimond of Grovetown, GA; uncle, Myron Cain of Augusta, GA; 2 nieces; 1 nephew; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Memorials may be made to the animal charity of one’s choosing.
